the secret scene in poetry

the film reel running out at the movies
at the end
after the secret scene
after all of the credits
with a rumble and
a few slightly damaged frames
blurring
unspooling
flickering out into endless
warm
white
light

it's a lot like what
people who've almost died
but came back
describe seeing
right at the end

and I realized this
at the end
while I watched
Captain America last night

a jump
a rumble and
a blur into
the blazing white nothing
hypnotic and strong
just the pure energy
that had been throwing up the picture
when there was film before
but now
with the overlaid photographs gone
just the light
just the power that was projecting it all

and I don't know what it means
but it was beautiful to see
fucking glorious

if this was all the film and
I got to go back into the projector's hum
when I was done
it wouldn't be so bad
