there is too much of me
too much hair
too much flesh
too much bone
too much width
too much height
too much fat
too much of everything
there is too much past
still too much future
oceans of regret
skysworth of festering potential
too much frustration
too much love to give
too much righteous indignation
too much doubt
way too much doubt
enough doubt for twelve lifetimes
let alone one
there is too much debt
too much resentment
too much pent-up
too many ideas
too many dreams
too many schemes
too many possible lives
glimpsed by too much imagination
and given up on too early
because I thought I knew what was coming
and I thought it was all too much
I am too much
too much like a busted fire hydrant
trying to either explode for good
or be channeled into a steady stream
to quench and to clean
but because I'm busted
I am too much in-between
to be of much use to anyone
let alone myself
much to my dismay
and more than anything else
there is too much hope
too much hanging on that thread
hope a thread that's far too little
still too much hope to give up
or to compromise
and become too much like someone else
still too much hope
that I can still accomplish
the task of being some impossible me
and so I'm stuck
as I said
in-between
there is too much of me
too much hope
too much doubt
too much size and fat and noise and fate
and it hurts like hell to be
but I don't mind too much
I can't change now
it's far too late
