“WHEN YOU FEEL BORED AND WISH FOR A MORE INTERESTING LIFE…” in "LIFE IN THE TIMES OF CORONA"

I’m grateful that I love writing. That has been one of my coping mechanisms when things are tough. That includes dealing with boredom.

Thanks to this #Covid19pandemic and #socialdistancing policy (depending on where you live / are right now), I’ve heard the same complaint from almost everyone I know:

“I’m bored.”

No worries. I do that too sometimes. You’re not the only one. In fact, I’m sure that at one point of our lives, we wish for something more interesting. We often forget about this fair warning:

“Be very careful what you wish for.”

I can even picture that like this:

The Prayer: “Dear God, I’m bored. Make my life more interesting.”

God: “Okay.” (then gives The Prayer some problems.)

The Prayer: (complains) “Dear God, why Are You giving me these problems?”

God: “You said you wanted a more interesting life.”

See what I mean? We often take a lot of things (and people) for granted. Even when things feel kind of slow and stagnant lately, there are still plenty of options around. There’s always a way to make our lives feel more interesting.

For example, keep yourself busy. Do something, anything constructive or productive. Sports, artwork, writing … you name it. Find what you really like. Create.

What if you try your best, but everything still feels so … boring? Perhaps you need some time to just … chillax. Try to enjoy the moment of not doing anything. Take a break.

When you have enough of it, try to find something to do, like … again. Life, after all, is like a rollercoaster ride. It’s full of ups and downs.

Sometimes you have to stay seated while anticipating another dizzying round. It sucks, but what can you really do?
