"Morally impoverished" in Diary

Ha, I was just sorting out some old emails and I found this one from Pete, which he sent to me about five years ago when we were going through the very long and arduous process of splitting up.

"You've become a more outgoing strong person, unfortunately with that you've thrown away what was a strong moral backbone. I can't help but feel that hanging out with someone as morally impoverished as (Friend) and having guys pursue you has done a lot to corrode what was one of your more attractive features. Your new found ego has seemingly put you in a position where you deride other people's feelings."

At the time I remember being pretty upset about it but now? I'm laughing my head off! I'm pleased I've become a more outgoing and strong person, but there's no way I've thrown away my strong moral backbone, my morals are one of the things I'm most passionate about! Oh deary me, this has made my day.

Anyway, to follow on from my previous entry, I haven't had my appraisal today; no surprises there, my boss is always rushed off her feet. She says we're going to do it tomorrow but we shall see. I'm in half a mind just to grit my teeth, say nothing and get on with it seeing as though I've now decided to leave in four months. Eeeek, scary!
I'm now going to write about my weekend. On Friday night me and Jay went out with Rob and Angi for a curry and a few pints, which was nice. Rob had a nice bottle of beer in a strange glass that looks more like a brandy glass, and look at the head he had on it!

On Sunday I drove over to Loughborough for Jaxx's birthday. It was a nice afternoon/ evening of making and eating sushi with loads of friends that I hardly ever see. Plus I got to meet Bee's 10 month old daughter Natasha for the first time, which was lovely.

I always thought I didn't like sushi but I've been converted. I've only ever had cheap supermarket stuff before, but having it fresh like this, it was delicious. Plus it was great fun having a go at rolling it.

Jaxx puts tuna, salmon and avocado in hers.

Sushi that I made! Mine's the one with duck and cucumber. I think it could do with more filling as there seems to be a lot of rice here, but I'm quite pleased with this for a first attempt.

Ice cream! Now that spring has sprung, ice cream weather is upon us :o) I got one with marshmallows, which I've never seen before.

And Christine's Tallest Ice Cream Ever.

It was lovely catching up with everyone and I always just slip right back into the group with no awkwardness. I'm seeing them again on Saturday at Ed and Ashleigh's wedding. That makes three times in a month that I've seen them! I really should make more effort going forward, it only takes me about an hour to get to Loughborough and they are friends worth keeping.
