wants and needs in poetry

the smell of cheap beer
in an expensive beard
is that what you want?

he's running around
all over the town
making you look like a clown
is that what you want?

because it's not a question
of who you want
it's about who wants you back

it's just a question
of taking sound advice
or treating it like
some kind of attack
is that what you want?

it's only a waste of time
obsessing over him while
you barely cross his mind
is that what you want?

just another fraud with a knack
for convincing you
he's what you lack
stringing you along
under glass in case
of quick sex emergencies
he'll watch you crack
but when push comes to shove
that's nothing close to love
is that what you want?

if you hate yourself, I guess
you push away those you impress
believing only those
who treat you like shit
it makes sense psychologically
but it sounds like bad mojo to me
I would think that eventually
you'd get tired of it
but maybe that's what you want

vaguely cruel
and blandly handsome
is that what you want?
