a needed break in poetry

there is
socioeconomic Stockholm Syndrome
wall-to-wall
whenever I try to
watch the news
so I just turn the channel
I put on cartoons

it's not the best answer
but sometimes it's all we've got
knowledge is power
but a break means a lot

watch the pretty colors
watch the smoke diffuse
try and hold your focus
on what you actually can do

better to watch a duck and bunny
battle with invective
than drive yourself mad
with an airplane crash
on the other side of the world
for weeks and weeks on end
pretending you're a detective
make right your own house first

and in your house
there are great cartoons on
except for Family Guy
that's the worst
