Update and Goldy piccies in Adventures in paradise

I had a fairly good time on the Goldy. I didn’t do much besides a few beach-walks and dip my feet in the Pacific. I had a nice view to the north so I also had side views of the ocean and the Hinterland. The hotel room was fairly nice but I decided I wouldn’t have paid full-price for it, but on the deal was okay. The gym there was fairly updated too, much nicer than the one where I live, which has a weird musky smell because there are no open-able windows, wheras this one was on level 27 with windows and a door that opened to a balcony. There was also a lounge on that level on the ocean-side of the building, which was nice and never anyone in there. I made the mistake of using the gym in the afternoon and there were no blinds on the windows (why would you - view!) so it meant the sun was blinding me most of the time. There was one other guy in there who joined me later on who decided to take his shoes off to work out (??) so that was interesting. But oh well. The rooftop was nice too (level 41) but I always had to share it with people. There were two guys up there on one occasion and I had the feeling they might have been a couple, but not sure, just had a vibe. Like I said, I didn’t really do much. Quite a few places were still not trading and I found myself having to have KFC for dinner more than once, so that was unhealthy but oh well. It was a better option than Maccas (ergh!).
I went to Australia Fair one day and went to City Beach to buy a jacket, because I’d stupidly forgotten to bring one. I’d also forgotten to bring sunnies because I was so last-minute deciding to get out of the house, so bravo Matt, bravo! I swear I don’t know how to adult sometimes. Anyway, I needed a jacket cos I was going to freeze at night otherwise. My room had two air conditioners though so that was good to keep me warm.
I met up with one guy though, so my Covid drought has been broken, somewhat. I chatted to a lot of guys but nothing eventuated with any of them. Anyway this one guy seemed nice enough. He was staying in Main Beach and I walked the 15 minutes there. He only wanted to wank though, so that was… something. Hardly a hook-up though. His dick was long and thin lol.
It was farking cold walking back to my hotel past midnight though. The days were amazing though. I spent a few hours of one just laying on the sand, which was nice. Not too hot, clear skies, no wind, hardly anyone on the beach.
On my final day there I checked I left my bag at the hotel and went to Burleigh Heads for the morning, which was as lovely as usual. Another gorgeous day.

Here’s some piccies from the short-trip.

This is actually one of my fav photos I took, because although it’s hard to tell from the pic, there was a paddle-boarder, a surfer, a snorkeler and a swimmer in this frame :)

And finally, my mug again :P

I caught up with an old housemate on my way home that afternoon too, Alex. He’s lived on the Goldy the past few years. He’s an interesting character in that he seems to spend his entire days just gaming. He doesn’t seem to work and when I ask if he’s working he just mentions property, so I guess he earns all this money through real-estate and does nothing all day. He’s still living with the ex-boyfriend in his ex’s mother’s house, rent-free as far as I can tell. His cat, Tiger, is still doing well. I told him my story about meeting up with the guy who just wanted to wank, and he was like, “What’s the point?” lol. Anyway, it was nice to catch up. We got turned away from dining in at a Thai place, but were welcomed at the Japanese venue next door, so that was dinner.
My other friend Brent, whom I was also supposed to meet earlier in the day, bailed on me in favour of his other friend a few hours beforehand, and expects me to come back down to the coast again this week to catch up. I doubt it’ll happen. I was already there dude!

Anyway, my four-day ‘weekend’ was up and I’ve just finished up my 3-day week, which was busy as usual. The ASM had me marking down all the clearance lines to 90% off, so it was a frenzy once customers realized. There were protein powders marked down to like $1 and sanitary pads to 40c lol. But at least everything sold. I must have refilled the clearance bay three times over two days. I got screwed over again on Friday once I (again) realized I was the only staff member on, so I was playing catch-up (again) because I had to do his job before my own. I’d just like to be informed, you know? Not just realize halfway through my routine “Oh, shit, I’m the only one here” until another staff member rocks up 4 hours later. I made sure to mention it on Sunday because I’m sick of getting caught out. Apparently he’s not in again this Friday but at least I am aware of it this time! Anyway, got a lot done as usual, as I always do. My knees were killing me from all the bending down and pressure on them. I sit on the floor a lot marking stuff down on the lower shelves because it’s just less pressure and more comfortable, customers wheeling their trolleys around me. I swear some bitch is gonna ram their’s into me one day. I swear I’m just getting old and my knees are giving out on me.
Our limits are back on for toilet paper and paper towel (2 per customer) as a precaution because of the rise in infections in the south. I’m glad it is because I could overhear a middle-aged couple talking about stock-piling the next aisle over from where I was working.

Poor Victoria. It could have happened anywhere, really - it just happened to be there in certain hot-spots. Kylie I hope you are staying safe!
And they are copping a bit of slack for it from other states. Interesting enough their border with NSW remains open, but hey - economy. The NSW premier has had her tail between her legs, now telling her state not to visit Melbourne after having a go at my state’s premier for having our border shut a few weeks prior. An announcement on my state’s border is going to be made tomorrow apparently. The latest was that it was going to reopen on July 10, so we’ll see if that remains in place or will be extended like the Western Australian premier has done. I’m loving that Tasmania has had zero cases in over 3 weeks now, which I think now means they can only get it from returning interstate/overseas residents? Do I have that right?
International travel probably isn’t going to happen again until July 2021 now, with QANTAS axing many positions, so that’s huge. A vaccine should be available by then. I think New Zealand may be the only exception for us to travel too within a travel bubble, which I would totally do. I have the south island on my list. Certainly interesting times. Having said that, things are pretty much back to normal here just with the usual restrictions. We have 2 active cases, which interesting enough are both on the Gold Coast. I had to write my details down at the restaurant and social distancing is in place. People are definitely complacent/over-it however. They want some sense of normality in their lives. Stadiums are now allowed 10,000 people in my state lol. Go figure.

Anyway, on weekend again now and life goes on :) Hope you are all well and staying safe.
