Flu shot time in Adventures in paradise

I didn’t go to the Gold Coast to catch up with Brent, like he invited me to this week. I was still reading too much of that Reddit thread and didn’t like the idea of jumping in a metal carriage of a train for over an hour each way only to watch a movie and come home again. So he’s probably pissed at me, but meh. I wasn’t too keen on going to the effort to make myself ready anyway. I stayed home, as all I ever do lately other than go to work and go for walks to get some fresh air. The air is getting cooler. Winter is on the way. It rained pretty much all day today. Not sure where that suddenly came from. Can virus’ drown? This is how my head works - welcome! lol.

I was back to work today. Shelby hit me up with photo “evidence” that I’d missed a few things on the swarm last week. I retaliated with that I’m thorough and I don’t believe I did. There was so much shit missing on her shelves that I’m sure it gets filled after I go through, and I made sure to tell her. I’m not sitting taking that crap when there are so many factors out of my control when I’m not there. Anyone can take a date out of the RF unit. Anyone can not rotate something. Anyone can not fill something. It’s all so stupid. I even said to her that I’ve (once again) checked everything properly and I don’t wanna hear this crap again next week. We’ll see. I’m back to a normal work-week after having to take the last two Friday’s off. Shelby thinks we’ll have to take more leave. Like hell. I’ve already wasted 20 hours of it for their fuck-up. And then today there was no management in the grocery department (my main department, but I work in Fresh on Thursdays) and I was asked if I could stay back because they were down staff. LOL. So I asked why the hell I had to take leave the last few weeks, but suddenly I’m being asked to stay back today? Ergh. Anyway, it’s not like I’m doing anything these days. I said that I would, but that I had an appointment and that I’d have to go to that and then come back. Anyway, the guy in grocery said he’d message management (since no-one was to be seen as usual) and get back to me. It turns out that split shifts are now illegal at my work, so I wouldn’t be able to. I realized that I could have just used my appointment as my lunch break and came back, but hey, I ran with it. I was outta there!

My appointment was just my flu vaccination. It’s my first flu-shot in forever, so I’m a bit nervous. The nurse assured me it won’t make me sick. It was over in no time. Although when I got there, a girl was passed out on the floor in the reception area, and the nurse and some others were helping her back up to the chair. Yikes. I waited outside as there was a bright pink sign on the door saying NOT to enter. Covid-codes and all that jazz. That girl recovered and was led out. I asked the nurse if I could go in. She said I just needed to have my temperature taken first. I joked that I’d just finished work and it would probably be higher. Anyway, it was 36, so I was allowed in. I was asked if I’d mind moving doctors lol. I said I didn’t mind. The only problem with that was I couldn’t ask about my ultrasound, as my usual doctor with either busy or had disappeared. The flu shot didn’t take long at all. The doctor just asked me a few questions like, “Are you over 65, Aboriginal or pregnant?” - I mean, I would have thought all those answers would be obvious, but he asked them professionally lol. It just meant I had to pay for the shot, which was fine. Certain demographics get it covered. Then I was led to another room and the nurse got me to roll up my sleeve and I barely felt it. I feel like my arm might be sore when I wake up in the morning though.

Anyway I have a big day tomorrow, given the lack of staff today, I feel like there will be a lot of catch-up to do. I always order extra grocery products when I’m there on Thursday so that they hopefully arrive by Saturday - just while customers are still going crazy for certain items. Flour and yeast still seem to be very popular especially. Things do seem to be gradually getting better though. I set myself up fairly well today for tomorrow, although I’m still expecting a shit-show, especially with express back on, ergh.

Anyway, what a boring entry. These Covid times sure are exciting.

OH, my toys arrived lol. I haven’t given them a test-drive yet :P
