Dad's Calls in Days of My Destiny

I had a great chat with dad tonight.

It's funny with him. He's the one who rings the most and checks up on me. Maybe every 3 to 4 weeks. I like that I have that from him, it helps make up for his absence in the past (which I've long forgiven him for anyway). But honestly, I rarely miss him. It's only when I notice he hasn't called in longer than usual that I begin to think about him and think that I should give him a call. But usually he ends up calling first anyway. Usually our calls last about 10 to 20 minutes. Never too long, just enough to say, Hey, I'm fine, glad to know you are too. But then sometimes, we'll have an amazing hour-long chat. Sometimes we even laugh together, and I know it's not just polite laughter because the other person thinks he or she said something funny. And it's in THOSE moments - the moments when we're both, GENUINELY laughing together over the phone - that I miss him. I miss his sense of humour.

Tonight we were talking about friendships. He said, "Tu sabes que yo no tengo mucho amigos. Y los pocos que tengo..... no dan ganas de verlos.... weones."

(Translation: You know I don't have many friends. And the ones I do have......... I don't feel like seeing them..... pricks.")

At this, we both CRACKED UP LAUGHING and we laughed and laughed and laughed for the longest time!

It was refreshing :)
