On Tuesday I went to post a letter and found they had painted the postbox blue with Thank you NHS on it. There are a lot of NHS workers in this area because the University Hospital of Wales is just up the road, we can see the top of it from our window. It’s strange to think they have cases of Covid 19 in there.

In the end we didn’t go to the beach for Louise’s birthday. It was rather chilly and I had woken with a migraine and was feeling a bit light headed from the meds. We decided to go to a local park instead and then on to The Range where they sell plants. Louise had the idea that she could buy a tree to symbolise a new start.

The park was filled with tulips, rhododendrons, and blossom trees shedding petals in the breeze. There was a beautiful grove of maples and a few bluebells by the stream. Billie wanted to swim but we couldn’t let her as we hadn’t thought to bring a towel. I was feeling much better and we walked for about an hour.

After our walk we both needed the loo. The ones in the park have been locked since the current situation began and they don’t have any in The Range, so we stopped at Lidl to go there. We found masses of really cheap plants, only £1.75 for a tray of six; we bought 4 trays. It was good that we did because the plants at The Range were expensive. They only had a few conifers and some fruit trees so Louise postponed her tree planting plan.

When we got home I gave Louise her present, a bonsai maple. She loved it and said, she got her tree after all. Afterwards we watched the last episode of Anne with an E. We will miss that programme, what a shame they are not doing another series. We are now going to watch Victoria. I have already seen the first 2 seasons but I loved it and am happy to watch it through again with Louise.
