This is a documentary about the greatest book to movie adaptation that was never made. The movie shows in interviews, how the director got his staff together, how he got an amazing group of actors together (Orson Welles, Mick Jagger, David Carradine), and created his vision.

After bringing it all to various Hollywood studios, he was told it wouldn't work out, couldn't be made.

Towards the end of the movie, you are shown various Hollywood sci-fi movies and are led to realize how much of this director's vision has shown up in other sci-fi blockbuster movies. He had the vision, then it was picked apart, never used in its entirety. It would've been an amazing version of Dune, much better than the one that WAS made.
