Day 4 in meh...

So yeah. I’m missing days 1-3. These are my official quarantine days. The kid was out of school the week before. Tuesday and Wednesday were my days when I was TOTALLY in the house a d went nowhere.

It’s only been barely a week. Lol

My days have been me sitting with and helping the grandson with his school work, cooking and experimenting. I made my best batch of fried cauliflower to date. Well…the best looking. They tasted just fine, but there are things I need to tweak like having good paper towels to drain properly so they don’t get soggy. Lol I’ve seasoned my cast iron skillet for the umpteenth time because I will cook in it and leave the oil in the skillet. As much as I love the skillet, it had this pre-season coating on it that I’ve been trying to scrape off since I’ve had it. But it works.

I’ve also been trying to get this house in order. The kitchen is an ongoing process since I keep cooking. I’ve been alternating kitchen duty with my son. I’m still trying to suss out what to do with my living room. I want to rearrange it, but I don’t know how. I have no matching furniture, and junk in almost all corners. I’m also working on decluttering. That is a job in itself because…
Ok.

Say I have an invoice, I’ll keep it in case I need it for something. What that something is, who knows. But it can be thrown out or shredded. Ha! Shredded. That is a joke too. My shred pile hasn’t been worked on in YEARS. It’s not out of control, but it is a LOT.

Anyway my living room always has something in it and I no longer want that to be true.

Then the bathroom. I would love to change the color of my bathroom. It looks so stupid. Beige upper walls, baby blue tile(?) on the lower part. Floor is white tile and the shower wall is white off white and the ceiling is white. I’ve always called it a water closet because it’s so small. So small. So small. Keeping the bathroom clean is horrible. If my son isn’t leaving weird booty stuff on the seat (not poop but, ugh), the grandkid is peeing everywhere. And because I have a bladder that likes to smack me out of nowhere with emergency to go pee, I sometimes pee all over the seat too. This means I have to use gloves to unscrew the stuff and clean all the parts off, toilet seat too, then clean the toilet, around the toilet, behind the toilet. The grout looking part never gets super clean and I’m on hands and knees scrubbing. Toilet paper rolls never seem to make it to recycling. Always behind the door or in the under-the-sink cabinet. It’s so small but so treacherous. I’ve been touching up in there, but hadn’t done a deep cleaning and it is INDEED in order.

Then once everything else is done, my bedroom. I need to move all of the clothes down to the basement now. Honestly, I’m not wearing anything but tshirts and leggings. I’ve got plenty of tshirts and two pair of leggings that I alternate every other day. We are not doing much around this house. I have a pair of pants for outside, but I’m not even doing that. I go out to go across the street to grandson’s school to get breakfast and lunch. I didn’t go yesterday though. We go when there is no one else around and we wear gloves and I bring a disinfectant wipe with me to wipe what we touch with the gloves on. I do not play.

I’m not as gross as I must sound. Honestly. I’ve been upset because I hadn’t home much and can’t tend to the things that need to be taken care of. Habits will change during this period. Hopefully I get the tax return I hope I’m getting because I have to buy a new vacuum. Yes. I was going to and ended up not being able to. I will deep clean the carpet in my son’s room (smells like cereal and dirty hair) and my bedroom smells like sweat and shame. LOL

There is work to do and I’ve got at least a month to do it. I’m ready. Habits have to change for real.

That about covers it. I pray for all of your safety and health during this season in our lives.

My love to you all. Stranger or not.

Kindest regards,
Sister
