venting in just testing

Not me exactly, but Teach.

Monday is Teach's birthday. Monday, since it's a workday will be pretty uneventful so we hung out yesterday [Friday].

Yesterday was 'in service day' at the school which was basically meetings and then all the teachers went to clean and decorate their classrooms. But this school is different because it's private and kind of run like a day care and so corporate heads give the teachers what their class room will look like or be. Every school in the franchise has to look the same.

You would think because they tell you what the classroom has to look like that it would be easy but it's still ALOT of work to decorate the room. And plus a lot of teachers were being switched to a different classrooms and so they had to clean and change their room before they even got to decorating.

Teach wasn't done by 5:30pm and we had to leave the school and plus with all the teachers out and mingling there was a lot of gossip going on - good and bad - between the teachers. So in the end I could see Teach was exhausted and so I offered to take her our to dinner.

I asked Will if he wanted to go and we did.

It was her choice and she chose Macaroni Grill.

It was great - I forgot how good that place is.

Anyway, the whole ride over and the whole dinner I kind of expected her to start moping and complaining about her job and her life like she tends to do when she gets someone new to tell it to. But she didn't.

She was the fun old Teach I'm used to.

So I dunno if she didn't want to spill her guts in front of Will or if hopefully we took her our for such a good time she wasn't feeling mopey anymore.

Will had made a key lime cheesecake on a whim while he was home and I was at work.

So after dinner we took Teach to our house and I turned the lights done, stuck a candle in the pie and we sung happy birthday and each had a slice.

A little unconventional but I know she felt special yesterday - and I definitely think she needed it.

I get know that I'm just a sound board for her venting - I guess a lot of her girlfriends are but she's not so far gone that she can't be fun and happy once in a while. That's what I needed to know. I didn't want Teach to be a negative person forever. And I was worried that's what she'd always be - but she can return to her old self every once in a while too. Which makes her much easier to deal with.
