I didnt get to plucking frostbite today. I really needed to. He has stringers hanging off him. Stinker… Hes rubbing on his water dish and its just making a mess. Wasting wool that boy! Ill have to get it tomrrow. It was warm today, 41, but oh so windy.
Im drawing plans for a shed for the buns. I need something more structured. The big thing is i want to create deep dropping pans. You can buy 1.5-2 inch deep ones. Im talking i want 6 inch deep dropping pans under them. Yes thats a lot! I realize it. But unless i can get myself out there to empty trays weekly. Its too much mess! You try to bring the tray out and spill it all over yourself. Not fun. Especially in the heat. But if i have deeper dropping pans. I can empty them bi weekly.
Mostly the concerns are predators that arent afraid of dogs. And heat. Predators in Ak stay awy from noise and dogs mostly. Here Raccoons and Coyotes arent deterred by dogs. Ive drawn up a basic paint sketch of what i want to create for a bunny shed. Its important that it needs to be heat shaded, But lots of fencing that will keep out animals. With ventilation and some fans. Im thinking solar powered fans maybe? Day time gets hot and there isnt a lot of rain. Not quite what im used to, where its less hot and super rainy lol.
Rabbit raising is hard! They go sterile in heat. So im going to breed this week. I found a buck to borrow for my english and ill breed my french and satin together ( same body type, but one is shiny, one isnt. Babies wont be shiny but will carry for it) And ill have babies in a few weeks. They will be a boost to sell come 3 months from now haha. Some needed income.
Things are so wishy washy in the job front right now. Some complications. That i think that if i can do something small to supplement. Even though it gets expensive with feed. Im hoping to get things a bit cheaper down south here… Once We get going. We will see.
