Originally, Ben was going to get moved into our new place today. Now that's not happening, it will be Tuesday.

So, you see, it happened like this...

I paid the deposit on the electricity and got the move in date moved up to Tuesday. It will be on within two to three business days, but usually doesn't take that long since it's remote, blah blah blah. I called the office of our complex, let them know it was good to go.

I called the apartments on Wednesday, asking if the electricity was turned on and was told they'd call me back. I never got a call, so assumed it was good. I called them yesterday and was told all was good to go.

After being up roughly at 6-6:30 am and not getting to bed until 10pm the last week, I was exhausted when Robbie got me up at 9 this morning, so I curled back up on hte couch and slept until 1pm.

12 hours of sleep. Glorious!

When I got up at one, my phone was dead from Robbie messing with it in my sleep. I plugged it in and had several messages from Ben. "Vamp! Call me NAOW!!!"

I went out to smoke and Ben drives up five seconds later.

Electricity isn't on. Cable guy will be there between 3 and 5. Nothing is done.

OMGWTFBBQ?

After several phone calls, panic, dismay, a very testy call to OG&E, things seemed squared away. Ben managed to get the 24/7 emergency line for OG&E and the ady he talked to pushed a button. We headed up to the complex to get everything signed and taken care of. Got our keys, and went to the townhouse.

We walked through, went straight back to the office and did a walk through with the manager.

Whoever did the make ready did a horribly shitty job. In fact, there are no words to express just how horribly shitty the work was.

What is this I don't even:

  • The front door was broken, like someone tried to kick it in.
  • The kitchen floors were filthy, the counter top and wall next to the wall was peeling, and the fridge smelled like it was used for dead body storage.
  • There was a hole in the ceiling in the cupboard under the stairs.
  • The downstairs bathroom cabinet had a huge gap in the ceiling from the board falling down and one drawer missing in the vanity. Plus, an empty toilet paper package was in the cabinet.
  • The windowsills were filthy and had no blinds.
  • The board holding the banister was split in half and very loose.
  • In our bedroom, the glass fixture wasn't on the light, it was in the closest. The light in the closest had no covering and there was a candy wrapper in the closet.
  • The doors to our room, Robbie's room and the upstairs bathroom all were broken. I don't know if the last tenants had kicked them or what.
  • In the upstairs bathroom, there were cigarettes put out around and in the sink, the sink had a lot of dust, hair, sawdust and ick in it, there was a shower curtain or some sort of filthy plastic on the floor in front of the tub, the toilet and tub were filthy, and if I hadn't had shoes on, I wouldn't have set foot in there.
  • None of the cabinets had been cleaned and were dirty.
  • The glass on all the light fixtures were stained yellow, like the last tenants were heavy smokers. (This is why I go outside to smoke even in my own place.)

Renee, the apartment manager, was pissed. The cleaning and blinds could be taken care of today, but the doors needed to be ordered and the maintenance might take until Monday. Since Ben only works until 2 on Tuesday, then has Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off, he gave the keys back so they could get everything taken care of before he moves in. The cable was turned on today though.

Friday is still the big day we get all the big stuff done. It'll be the next week when Robbie and I get to move. With spring break being this week and the school administration office closed, I won't be able to take in the lease and utility bill until then.

But! The good news is, the lady I talked to at the administration office thinks it is likely special services will let Robbie continue to go to the school he is at now. It's not that far away and still in the district, so I am going to request he does. I would hate to change that on him since his teachers know his quirks, what works for him and what doesn't. Even though he's being a brat right now at school, he doesn't take to change well.

I love the way this video is put together. But I have always had a fascination for ancient Egyptian civilization and culture.
