Happy day after Christmas, 2019! Yes, we survived nicely and had a lovely celebration with son Mike and his family. We were at their house for dinner Friday, to celebrate with Annie, the oldest grandson’s fiance’, before she left to spend the holidays with her family in Oklahoma.
Our tradition has been to attend worship on Christmas Eve, but since Bob is scheduled for that catheterization on his right leg veins Friday, we didn’t want to get him exposed to any extra germs, Bob and I stayed away from the crowd. Looking back at that, I understand why I just never got to “feeling” it. Shopping was gift cards, period. Cooking was absolutely nil. Decorating was minimal. (Our place is so small, there’s not much we can do.) Nobody but the two of us and the housekeeper were in the place, anyway!
But, when the family got out of church, we went over for supper and visiting. Missed younger grandson, Dave who hadn’t made it home yet from college. He did show up just as we finished eating, but it was getting past my bed time, so we only got to see him for a few minutes before we came home.
Dave called us at 9:30 Christmas morning to come over for breakfast and gift opening and we were there again until about 1:30. Then we came home a rested up before going back three hours later for another lovely meal, game-playing and just being together. Home by 8:30 and directly to bed!
The “boys” had good news to share. Ben will start out the new year with a new position at work and a hefty pay raise. Dave is set to graduate from Colorado State University with a degree in environmental engineering in the spring! So proud of both of them.
During the day we had a couple of sessions of “face time” with daughter and her family, including that special little great-grandson. He is so cute! Just beginning to talk and very “into” Santa and such.
We did have a lively holiday social season, starting before Thanksgiving in California where we attended a birthday party for my sister’s granddaughter and then Thanksgiving at my nephew’s with many family members, and then a farewell dinner out just before our return to Colorado.
Our “fabulous” senior club had their annual formal dinner/dance two days after we got home. A cocktail party, a brunch, Bob’s club party, and five sessions of bridge…
We are invited to the traditional New Years Eve get-together, but our attendance will depend on Bob’s condition after his procedure tomorrow.
I am kind of looking forward to bit quieter January.
