A View to a Knifing 4 (2/20/2006) in Keeping Safe

Today is Birthington’s Washday. It’s one year by the federal holiday or one year minus one day by the calendar from the day last year that Wiltern Bryan threw a couple of punches at me and then drew a knife on me.

What’s neat is the fact that I have not had any nightmares about that incident. When I was younger I had chase nightmares caused by the May 1974 attack, as well as tease-and-deny nightmares from the emotional turmoil in my life then. In contrast, when Wiltern Bryan attacked, I had the tools, the skills, and the self-permission to deal with and end the confrontation, which I suspect explains the lack of nightmares.

What a long strange trip it’s been. I’m glad to know the thousands of dollars I spent between the Impact Model Mugging course, the counselling and therapy, and the trips to Gatherings have been worth it.

I can defend myself.

I am worth defending.
