I defended a boy today...

He's a good kid, and you'd probably like him. He's 11 years old, smart as a whip but doesn't display it. He doesn't have a ton of friends but he does have a few, and he gets along with most anybody. He tends to feel a bit like a fish out of water at times, especially at school, but he can hold his own in a conversation with just about anyone willing to chitchat with him.

He was jumped and beaten up at school. Two other boys, one a classmate and the other a younger boy in a lower class, ran after him leaving the library. He had had a gut twinge while in the library and had ignored it for a short period, finally giving in to the impulse to just pack up and leave. He left the library without evidence of a pursuit, but as he neared the entry of the adjoining building the two miscreants ran up behind him and trapped him against the door, where the older of the two proceeded to punch him out. The entire attack lasted between five and ten minutes, and was not witnessed by anyone else. The attack has caused him some repercussions since it occurred.

Today I defended that boy.
