A hint of Spring... in Controversy, opinions, etc.

One of the (only) things I like about Republican presidents is that they rarely show their faces in Manhattan. One or two appearances a year is the most you'd see. The current occupant of the White (Mulatto) House shows his face entirely too often, disrupting traffic on the Upper East Side. And when that interferes with me getting to my dinner at Daniel, you can bet I'm unhappy.
It's Burgundy Week in Manhattan, and I had a wonderful Maison Remoissenet, Chambolle-Musigny 1969 with dinner. What a rich, silky wine! I enjoyed it with the following menu:
Venison consommé
Scottish Langoustines with Castelfranco and Red Tardivo Blood Orange Segments, Harissa Hollandaise, Crosnes Tempura
Chorizo Stuffed Rabbit Saddle Confit Leg with Rabbit Consommé and Savoy Cabbage, Black Trumpet, Broccoli Rabe
All delicious, and paired beautifully with the wine.
The evening was so lovely, I decided to walk the 15 blocks back to the hotel. This week's hint of Spring has everyone slowing down a bit to enjoy being out in the fresh air without freezing to death. March is a tease, though, and back to freezing tomorrow.
