I've had this killer roving sinus headache for the last week and it's fucking getting ooold. This happens to me a few times a year. Pisses me off every time it happens. Taking Aleve and Zyrtec and countless other pill allergy/pain relief combos yield very very minor progress against it. Reduces it from a pounding to a dull ache, so that's something. Then it just goes away.
I had to work at Skyways last weekend. I somehow managed to cover my entire left leg in Jet A, virtually wrecking my jeans and shoes. I was reloading the Jet truck at the fuel farm, and I was attempting to couple the house to the truck, which normally is a non-dangerous type of activity. However I am a weak girl and the hose is heavy and awkward and needs a bit of man-handling. I was leaning into it, bracing myself with my left leg and for some inexplicable reason the hose decided to release a deluge of fuel. That shouldn't have happened - the entire system was off and valves on both ends were closed. But it happened anyway. Then I got busy and wasn't able to go home and shower and change clothes. I had to walk around in my stinky jetty clothes all day. Nate brought me new pants at lunch but my shoe and sock were still soaked. On another note, apparently you can have a skin reaction to Jet fuel. Never had that happen before, but I've always been able to wash it off immediately, not sit in it all fucking day. I also don't know how to deal with the jeans and shoes. Can you wash shoes? Because they are ruined - I can't wear the shoe saturated with jet fuel - not only does it freaking REEK I'm not going to have my feet exposed to jet fuel all day.
I was also practically late to my REAL job both days, arriving at 2:59 when my shift starts at 3:00, which pissed off my shift mates. Before I left Sunday, the Hoff came out to the airport. I asked him to take care of some stuff because I had to go to work and he said "OK" then wandered off and started screwing around in the hangar instead of processing transactions. When I finished billing these customers I went to tell him I had to leave like, 5 minutes ago, and he made some snide remark about how I "didn't even get any of the cars washed."
I'm going to take a few months off of working there. This new "on call" thing doesn't work for me. Plus the airline has been really unreliable lately because of their "pilot shortage" and their arrival and departure times just don't work for me with my other job. I can't go to my REAL job late. I can't go to my REAL job covered in jet fuel. I can't be ON CALL when I'm at work. And bitchface never un-forwards the on call phone so I get calls at 6:45-7:30 Monday morning from the airline.
Nope, nope nope nope nope, I'm done. Don't get me wrong I love my part time airport time when I'm there. I love talking to other pilots, being around airplanes, working outdoors. It's not like I need to work there. I do it because I enjoy it. But it just isn't working out for me right now, not to mention the next few months are going to be very busy. I'll take a weekend when I can, not have them just expect me to show up one weekend a month and do all the work.
Bank is still going well, I'm working alone almost all of the time now. Pretty easy money, can't complain. As far as part time jobs go, it's pretty good. <3 Sarah PS: Sorry for the ranty-rant. In better news now that our credit cards are paid off we should have our first student loan (one of mine) paid off in April or May. :)
