My own Big Gay Day in Adventures in paradise

I've been spending a lot of time with Vish and his boyfriend lately. I didn't even go to Big Gay Day this year. Instead, Vish picked me up and then we picked up Rick and we all went to Redcliffe for most of the day. Rick rang a guy named Matt, who happens to live nearby, and he joined us as well, and Vish invited Ben, so in the end we pretty much had our own little gay day of our own, the six of us.
We decided to dine at The Coffee Club. Anyone who is Aussie knows the Coffee Club and that it is slightly overpriced and average food. But hey, we wanted somewhere with an all-day breakfast, and we arrived there around midday to 1pmish I think.
It was really packed when we got there. It was a Sunday, so I assumed most of the diners were probably people who'd come straight from church. Churches tend to do that. I know I used to when I was a bible-bashing deluded teenager - ie. Head down to the restaurants after service to catch up with everyone I hadn't seen in ages. Mind you, back then I was driving to Brisbane once a month from Millmerran just to attend a youth service and then driving back by 3am, only to have to be on a bus to school by 7am. Oh, how insane was I back then?? And for CHURCH!?? Oh well, I can't say it was all bad. I'd made some close friends at the time. Of course, these days, I know of those people, but would hardly consider them friends. Amazing how life branches off in different directions hey?
Anyway, the restaurant was PACKED, as I mentioned, but by the time we were ready to leave, there was hardly anyone there. I think it's because of some of the heathen conversations we were having LOL. That just proved my theories that the other diners were probably all churchies.
I actually knew Matt, but I haven't seen him in YEARS. Literally, like 7 years or so it feels like. It's amazing when you haven't seen someone in that long, like not even an online profile or anything. Last time I saw him, I remember he had quite a long face and was quite serious, so seeing him this time with a round face and a constant smile, I was really surprised. I find myself wondering if I'm getting him confused with another guy, but he has the exact same name, so it has to be him. I even found myself wondering if we were sneaking glances at each other.
Something very strange happened at lunch though, as Vish had invited Ben. Ben had driven himself there, and was his usual self, but after lunch when we wentto say goodbye, I gave him a hug and he clearly did not want to hug me back. VERY noticeable body language. Picture this - me giving a hug like I usually do, with my friend basically leaving his hands by his side whilst I hugged him goodbye.
Well. I don't need a light bulb over my head to tell me he's pissed off with me. Anyone who's read my Favs Only entries over on OD knows the backstory. I really can't be bothered. It's just gotten to the point where inviting Ben anywhere is just plain awkward for me. Vish is always asking me what's going on, and I can't tell him, because Vish can't keep his mouth shut for the life of him.
I saw some photos of Big Gay Day when I got home. It looked like it usually does - overcrowded and overpriced lol. I was kinda glad I didn't waste money going there, although Darin did offer to pay for my entry fee in, which was nice of him. He's a prostitute so has wads of disposable cash floating around I guess. Carly went as well, and I knew Liam would be there as well. Fuck. I've really gotta get over my obsession with that guy. When I really think about it, I actually don't think he'd be my type at all. He's just so damn cute.
Speaking of Liam's - I got a message on Grindr from a guy named Liam, who had just finished work around 2am, and he sent a private pic with his "hi" message. "It's HIM!", I thought to myself.
Remember that guy from the casino who I hooked up with about three years ago, who told me not to message him because his housemates used the same phone as him? LOL. I swear it was him! It had to be. The picture and the name reminded me of him.
Clearly he had forgotten who I was after so long. I replied to him, not that he replied back after the initial "Hi', as I guess a leopard never changes it's spot and he's still as fucked up as I remember. Such a shame when otherwise he was a decent and good looking guy, that I remember.
This is what discretion does to gay guys. They can never truly be themselves and have to cover their tracks for whatever reason.
I simply CAN'T do it. I need to feel free in every aspect of my life. And no matter what stubborn bulshit my father says to me about it is clearly his problem and not mine.
Speaking of my dad. I got a random message from him a few days ago. It was a text message, and I assume it was generic to a lot of people. It rad, "My days of being a farmer are coming to an end. The farm has been sold."
Now that is exciting news! How awesome! This means my mum and dad are getting ready to retire. I'm still unsure of whether they've chosen to reside in Millmerran or Pittsworth, but I have a feeling it'll probably be Millmerran.
I sent a simple reply back, "Congratulations. That's quite a milestone."
I think that's the first form of communication I've had with my dad in months.
I still think he's a stubborn idiot if he ever thinks I'm gonna suddenly stop being a homosexual, so it looks like we're gonna have to agree to disagree.
I'm sure I'll find out the details eventually. It's pretty big news amongst the relatives and such, as so many people have been involved in that farm, or group of farms over the years. I'm unsure if all of them have been sold or just a few, but it sounds like all to me. It would be very cool to find out how much they sold it for. Given how how surrounding farms have been selling for, it really could've been anything.
As for me, I've just been pretty bored really since coming back from Sydney. Vish and his boyfriend had to kick out their tenants as they were being dodgy and not paying rent or bond, so they turned up here again last night to borrow some of my cleaning products and a vacuum cleaner, as they had a lot of mess to clean up. Why do some people have to be SO dodgy?? Ergh. Turns out they had an untrained house cat living with them. Which is better than what I thought originally - ie drug dealers lol.
I have no idea what I'm gonna do. I said to myself I'd look for more work come April, and I've been keeping my eye out, but nothing is standing out to me. I still have two weeks of holidays, and I'm wondering if I should just not give a shit about finances and take another break away before I return to work. I mean, it's not like I'm going to get time to for probably quite a while afterwards, right?
Okay... for some reason I can't change the entry title of this entry. Lovely. Please don't let this fuck up like OD did :P All-good, figured it out.
