Where Does the Compass Spin in Poetry

The passion of our dreams
Motivate our desires
To conquer and dominate
Subconscious nightmares
That burn in the fire
Fear is the worst hunger
As it advises desperation
Don’t blind your senses
Realize the opportunity
And grasp your destiny
Don’t take advantage of
What you think you need
Divide it along the lines
Of time
So it satisfies your needs
The shadows of the night
Have the power
To bury your mind
For the darkness
May blind
The light
May give sight
But if your other senses
Retire
You’ll wind up
Trapped inside the glass
And buried by the sand
Within an hour
Your only enemy
Is yourself
Why do you keep
Running away
From the demons you hide
The more you take
The more you kill yourself
In a place you wish
To escape
From the fears of today
Before the compass points
To your grave
