A Few in General

I have a few minutes. I need to head over to my PCP to get some Hep shots, and maybe a flu shot. I’m going in gym clothes. Because then all I have to do is strip off my hoodie and then they can stick me as many times as they need to.
Then water at Shaw’s. I’ve decided against taking my zero water and water bottles. I am just going to stock up on Dasani and replace them in the cooler as I make my way south.
I am going through a depressive episode here. Circumstances and October Maine weather are getting the better of me. I am chomping at the bit to hit the road.
Don’t get me wrong, Maine is the prettiest place on the planet. Coastal Maine is just coming into full foliage. Completely spectacular. When the sun is shining. Which lately is every three or four days.
Sometimes I wonder if the adrenaline junkie me didn’t burn out all the happy juice I have. That time in the range in south Texas. Tails and me. We both knew we were terminal. What jackass put us together. We did every. Single. Prohibited. Maneuver. Laughing the whole time. Our flight surgeon was in the back seat puking his guts out the whole time. We felt bad about that for about a minute.
Sometimes I ponder. How can being shot at, to realize somebody is trying to kill you. How can not affect the person you are.
Like everything else in Naval Aviation, we laughed it off then shivered in our racks. Unable to get warm because the adrenaline wasn’t there anymore.
