I love reading self-help books. Even when they don’t pertain to the type of help you’re seeking, there always seems to be some valuable insight that you can apply to your life.

There seems to be a trend where every other self-help book has the word shit or fuck in the title with an asterisk censoring one of the letters. I don’t really mind profanity at all , but I feel more inclined to stay away from those books as It seems like they might be doing that as just a way to stand out on the book shelf. I understand that for some authors the profanity is part of their shtick, but it just seems like now people might be trying to shamelessly board the bandwagon of this shtick when it really isn’t part of their genuine persona. I could be wrong.

Having said all that I did give in today and buy the audio book version of The subtle art of not giving a f-ck.

I’m about four chapters in and even though it does seem like the author is no expert of any kind, I am at least finding it entertaining to listen to. I think it has a lot to do with the person reading it. It’s the easiest audio book I’ve listened to ever so far. When it’s finished I’m going to look up his name and see if he reads anything else I might be interested in.
