Better Sleep in What's Happening

About a year ago I started wearing a CPAP machine to bed. I didn’t get it from a doctor. I could tell I needed it without any sort of medical evaluation. Besides the incredibly loud snoring, people have told me that I stopped breathing while I sleep. I’ve even had dreams where I was choking in my dream, only to wake up out of breathe because It was actually happening in real life.
The problem with getting one from a doctor is they want to make you do all sorts of testing and it can take months for your insurance to even approve it. Then even after you get one you have to provide proof that you’re using it, or insurance won’t pay for it. It’s such a hassle for a machine that literally just blows air in your face. One day I just searched Amazon for CPAP machines and they had one! I think I paid about $400 for it and about another $100 for a kit of masks that contained every size (that way I could fit myself to the proper size.)
I was hoping to just throw it on before bed and have a magical night of sleep. It didn’t quite work like that though. It took me a long time to get used to wearing it. I think the first successful night was a night that I worked a double shift at work and when I got home I was very exhausted. I threw the mask on and went right to sleep.
The quality of sleep I started getting from it improved my life drastically. Like anything else you get used to it and forget about the difference it’s making.
Since I’ve been laid off I did some camping and traveling and veered away from using it. I haven’t used it in a month and I think it might be part of the reason why I’ve been feeling like crap lately.
I just set it back up for tonight.
