So.. hurricane landed here over the weekend.. that I had off and had plans for (of course) and got completely ruined cause mother nature is a cunt lol.
Was supposed to have our steampunk groups annual picnic on Sunday.... yea no.
I was supposed to be enjoying two televised rounds of show jumping Saturday… power went out 1 hour before the first airing was to start....
we didn’t get power back until around 5pm yesterday…
The city, in fact most of the province is in a mess from the hurricane. No where near as bad as some places thankfully, but it was so messed up because it’s like it couldn’t make up its mind what it wanted to do.
Off land it went to a Cat 1, then before it his Saturday it was back to a cat 2, then as the eye was passing over sat night, it went to a tropical storm....
We were meant to get up to 150mm of rain, and we are in a basement apartment… I had a friend last minute find a sale on top soil bags at one of out local grocery stores Friday, so she dropped me off 10 bags before i even got off work! Well I think I made a pretty impressive barricade with the bags as well as 4 ripped apart recycle bags place under, over and around the stack.... but with the storm fluctuating like it was.. the rain amount got dropped and so I don’t REALLY know if it would have worked or not…
Couple emergency lights, and tons of stitch work, we were settled in for the storm
Nothing was open Sunday due to no power, D’s work had a mini flood, so we went down to help, and s shopping center thats out on the city lines had power, so me and the bosses wife went for a drive.
A friend of mine had power too so we did go up there for a bit for tea, and device charge after supper. good thing we have the BBQ!
yesterday, we were packed up and out the door and at out respective works by 9am as they had power and we still didn’t.
Lots of downed trees around the city, only a few structural issues around one or two buildings lost a roof, one building caught a falling crane…lol

But we made it. We’re still here.. lol
