on science as a religious experience in addressing the public

i am wearied of thinking about how it doesn't matter

how nothing matters

as well as fatigued of thinking how it might all matter

every blink of an eye

every call that you miss

everyone that you know

that you do or don't kiss

an item you lost

a word you might've said

something you could've done

and what you did instead

.

i believe in science

as an inexplicable, unending series of religious and glorious revelations

every moment of existence is a sacred text

that could be altered by a single enantiomer that was flipped the wrong way

.

and sometimes i think all day about an exchange i could've had in the elevator of a tall building with someone i've never met

but somehow that scale of thought is at times unfathomable

and i devote myself to considering how i could not think of such an exchange if not for a billion and more minuscule happenings that i could never justly tabulate
