Battery back-up in Everything

I was late to work again today, but this time it really wasn’t my fault. Ok let me explain. My alarm didn’t go off. My alarm didn’t go off because my buildings power went out, and also because Emerson Electronics (the makers of my alarm clock) and I have a slight difference of opinion on what “battery backup” actually implies. I was under the impression that, if say for instance the power goes off, that my alarm would still sound at the regularly scheduled time. Apparently in Emerson Electronics opinion it means that, if say for instance the power goes off, That ABSOLUTLY NOTHING HAPPENS. Not a fucking peep. Luckily my bedroom has a large window with Venetian blinds, and because I’m a guy I don’t have curtains, so it gets bright in the mornings. Bright enough that my sleeping brain knows that it should wake up to face the horrors of the day. So I was awake a little later than normal. My bathroom on the other hand does not have a window, it was basically pitch black in there. I couldn’t adequately perform my standard pre-shower spider check. Who knows what could have been lurking in there. I had to skip shaving because that would have probably not had a positive outcome. It’s ok though, I still look ravishing! And now ruggedly handsome. Hopefully the power will be back on by the time I get home.

And in the interest of full disclosure I almost titled this entry: "Battery back up my ass". Just didn't sound right
