P.R.F. Prosebox 8/8/2019 in Book Six: Trying to Hold On 2019

Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening; you’re joining us here at P.R.F. Prosebox this entry being put forth on Thursday, August Eighth, Two Thousand Nineteen. If you’ve been reading me this week, it should come as no surprise to you that it has been increasingly difficult to wake up. I just want to stay asleep and in bed, warmed by the sheets and my dog, until my body naturally wakes up feeling at least a sliver of refreshed. Of course… modern world, responsibilities, and all that prevent such a thing from being reality. Kind of a good news/bad news situation for me this morning: My day did not start with a bunch of complications or new charges for Domestic Violence or Sexual Assault of a Minor. For a change this week! However it did start with a bunch of e-mails from the Clerk of Court basically saying, “Okay so last year, the judge didn’t properly file something so it is now YOUR responsibility to fix it.” Followed immediately by a second string of e-mails saying, “Oh. Also, before you were ever even hired, there were cases where the judge didn’t properly file something, too. So it is now YOUR responsibility to fix it.” (sarcastic) Grreeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaat. Nothing better than realizing that the guys with the fat benefits package and extraordinarily higher salary didn’t do their job and now it has to become my job in a “Your problem is my emergency” kind of way. (sarcastic) Awesome.

Then Magistrate Court which… shouldn’t be too bad? He said hopefully. The new magistrate has been… I hope making some mistakes. Because if this is intentional, that’s just fucking stupid. He is setting Sentencing Hearings for Speeding Tickets. Allow me to explain. Say you get a speeding ticket and you don’t pay it. On the speeding ticket is a “court date” and, in every place in this country, if you neither pay the ticket nor appear for the court date; you are held to be “Guilty by Default” and a judgment is ordered for the amount of the ticket and you owe the State that much money. Our new magistrate sets that shit for a Sentencing Hearing. Meaning… he sets another court date so that he can officially tell you that you have to pay the ticket. Don’t do that, dude! You’re wasting the Court’s time, your time!

It took 3 hours, but Magistrate Court wasn’t too bad today. Not nearly as bad as it will be on the 22nd, let me tell you!! But then I come back to the office to find voice mail messages that I can’t open. So, that is super frustrating. But I think I have a long convoluted work around to get it working. ::sigh:: Grump. Stupid technology. Of course, I scan through people’s entries feeling… I don’t know. Unfit? Incapable? Some… mental or emotional block preventing me from noting as frequently as I would like to. Don’t know what it is. What comes below this text was written before this text but… I do that sometimes. If I want my “free writing” to be in one place and I’ll put my “burst of excitement or rage” elsewhere. So that’s what this is. Free writing up top, bursts of excitement or rage below.

Judge me if you want, but sometimes… I really, honestly get super stoked for a video game release. Borderlands 3 is one of those games. Borderlands 3 (like games such as World of Warcraft, Elder Scrolls, and Fallout) has a skill tree system. I am always curious about Skill Trees because they say A LOT about how the character can/will be played. For example… while Zero may have been my favorite Playable Character in Borderlands 2, Axton was my favorite Character to Play. Because Zero as a “digital clone having, sniper rifle using, ninja” ticks all of my boxes for “That’s so cool!” But as someone who plays Borderlands 2 almost exclusively solo… Axton is my main. He’s a soldier that uses a turret gun that fires bullets, missiles, and has a shield. SO.... Zero is “cool” but Axton is “practical.” Almost exclusively because of how their skill trees created their play-types. And that’s why I’m writing about. Borderlands 3 just launched their Interactive Skill Trees online thus allowing people to experiment (on paper) with what kind of playstyle they want to put together. I’ve been going back and forth between Zane and FL4K but currently think it is going to be an Axton/Zero issue. FL4K is a robot Beast Master that has a pack of normally wild animals that follow him, help him, and hunt with him. The idea of a robot gaining the trust and loyalty of a myriad of wild animals is fascinating and the idea of being able to more or less control some of the wildlife that has been kicking my ass over the course of 4 games is enticing. BUT Zane combines the skill tree potential of both Axton and Zero from the previous game. Zane has a shield, a SNTNL (replaces the turret), and a Digital Clone. So just from skill tree analysis… Zane is likely going to be my main for practical purposes.


This kind of thing doesn’t help my mood much, either. Obviously. White Supremacists are murdering people and the Government continues to equivocate. “Fine people on both sides” or more recently “White Supremacists are bad but equally bad are the people who protest against them.” Then turn to the economy. EVEN IF Tariffs were actually paid by China (they aren’t) the math has proved fucked. According to recent reports, the Trump Tariffs have brought in 27 billions dollars additional; meanwhile, the farm cost due to losing ALL of the Chinese Market for Soy Beans and other crops has tallied 28 billion dollars. So, even IF the tariffs were being paid by China… these tariffs are STILL costing the US 1 billion dollars. Not exactly punishing China, there. But of course, China doesn’t feel the sting of tariffs that way. Tariffs are taxes that are paid by the US IMPORTER (not the Chinese Exporter) so a more accurate way of describing the tariffs? The President elected by “Cut Taxes” folks… has collected 27 billion dollars in additional taxes from Americans while also creating a situation that has cost American farmers 28 billion dollars. Gee, I wonder if idiotic economic decisions like this are what led to Donald Trump bankrupting EVERY BUSINESS HE EVER RAN? Plus, whether you think the Green New Deal is socialism or necessary… the fact that we have a President and GOP that consistently votes against doing anything about Climate Change should alarm everyone. Especially because, according to almost all polling data… GOP Voters overwhelmingly accept climate change science. So why don’t their representatives?! Not to mention all the other nightmare horrors happening. For example: Lets say you believe that undocumented workers have no rights in the United States. First of all, as an attorney I can tell you quite clearly, you’re wrong. There are, legitimately by law, some laws in this country that apply to ALL people regardless of their citizenship, mode of entry to the country, or ethnicity. I know, I know… that might get your panties in a bunch but legally it is true. But let’s just say that you’re right. Undocumented Alien in this country has no rights. What do you do in Family Situations? What do you do in DACA situations? If your answer is “Throw ‘em all back!” then you haven’t done any research into the discussion beyond “Brown people who shouldn’t be here” so fucking shame on you. These issues deserve a more honest, intelligent discussion. FOR EXAMPLE: as was seen already yesterday. The President is in El Paso discussing “we must end hate” while his ICE patrols rounded up loads of undocumented Americans. THAT in itself isn’t incongruous. However the fact that there was NO plan, NO plan at all to deal with the children of all of these individuals? THAT is incongruous. Because many of those children are American Citizens. So, and this is true, failure to plan is a plan to fail… these kids came home to houses without parents and no idea if their parents would be coming home. There was no DHS presence to get these kids into Foster Care. There were no ICE Agents to make sure these kids could be delivered to family, friends, or neighbors so they could EAT. There weren’t even ICE Agents to take them into the Concentration Camps! Do you know what that tells me? There is only two possibilities. ONE: ICE Administration is too dumb to consider ramifications of their actions beyond simply “collecting brown people.” or TWO: ICE Administration sees these individuals as so sub-human and so un-deserving of any amount of decency, that they KNOW there will be additional ramifications, and simply DON’T CARE. Again… punish the parents if you want to, but don’t treat their children like beasts and stray dogs. If I have my police arrest both parents in a house, I am REQUIRED BY LAW to make sure DHS is present to make sure the children have a suitable other residence or caretaker.... if I am required to do that up to and including crimes of Murder, Rape, and Kidnapping.... you should fucking be required to do that for “working without proper papers.”
