white light in poetry

you are a white light
and this life is a prism
no, it isn’t a prison
this life is a prism
a prism temporarily exposing the spectra
of all the many things you can be, could be
all of the things that you are potentially
but one day some day
that gem will be pulled away and
you will be that white light again
explore all those ares and those cans
and those coulds while you are here
for this short little while
this wonderful terrible little while
this awful and glorious little while
you are a light
you are a tiny white light
and this is your brief chance
to be everything
for Christ’s sake
take it
you’re a light, white light
shining evanescent inside this infinite night
in that one moment
don’t forget to split
