We interupt this entry for a winter weather update, It is sleeting with thunder and lightening outside. I can't say I've ever seen that happen before. I'm just waiting for a 4.0 earthquake any minute now to round out the weirdness of it all.

Hey! Great Old One's! Would you rise already and stop fucking with the weather? K, thanks!

And now back to our regularly schedualed entry.

In addition to the new place and changes at work, talks are in the works of a couple of other big developments this year. Marriage is the main talk/want right now. Ben and I have been engaged since around the six month mark of our relationship. We're coming up on our three year anniversary in June. That's quite a long time to be together by today's standards, and is certainly my longest relationship ever. It;s Ben's longest too, but considering I'm his only relationship, it doesn't have quite the same impact. But, hell, me being his one and only has a different impact all in itself.

Neither one of us want anything big. Even in my days of never wanting to be married and not believing in it, I always said if I did do it, it would be small. No Victoria Gotti affair with 1500 guests, 3/4 of which I don't even know. My parents had a big Catholic wedding and most of my mom's cousins that were there she told me once she barely even knew, they just came out of respect for my grandma. That sort of wedding I never envisioned for me. I more see a small, intimate gathering. My parents, his parents, siblings and our close friends.

The list thus far is comprised of my parents, Robbie, his mom, his mom's best friend (who would be commissioned as photographer since he does an amazing job), his sister, his brother (who would be his best man) and sis in law, his niece and her baby, his nephew, Rach (who would be my maid of honor) and her husband and three kids. We were just thinking of getting married at the court house, but I don't know how they would feel about having that many people up there. 15 people isn't a whole lot as far as weddings go, but still.

I want to do some things traditionally. I want to do invites, but I'd love to DIY my own. I fell in love with these bleach stamped invites on trifold pocket folds. But this site has some neat customization options too and I can get the pocket folds at good prices. I want to do the whole pretty white dress, but not too froofy looking or really even that weddding dressy looking. I want a ceremony with vows we write ourselves, but have the official throw in a dash of scripture for him since he has more religious beliefs than I do. Afterwards, I want to go out and have dinner with everybody at a nice restaurant in Bricktown, maybe have a small cake. And then I want to have our wedding night to ourselves in a room at The Skirvin Hotel.

I found rings on Amazon that I think I'm in love with. I don't like the idea of having a diamond ring as I've never been partial to diamonds, hit my hands on everything and, knowing my luck, I'd get something expensive and loose it. I became a fan of Tungsten Carbide when I worked in jewelry. It's very resilient, doesn't scratch easy and inexpensive. And I love the Celtic design. Then again, this set is damn tempting to. Ben will probably say no, but it seems fitting. "One ring to rule them all." It's a good metaphor for marriage, I think. I love what one reviewer said. "I gave this to my daughter for her 16th birthday and haven't seen her since. lol :)"

Hi. My name is Vamp and I am a geek.

The date I would love to get married on the 12/13/14. It just seems like a cool anniversary date to have. That gives us nine months. The only problem with it is, I always wanted an outside wedding and if it's cold out, I can kiss that idea good-bye. I hate the cold weather as it is, would I really stand outside freezing my ass off in my wedding dress on my wedding day? Hell. No. So inside it is if we go for that date.

I haven't found any dresses that scream at me "THIS IS THE ONE!" yet. I've been casually looking around for about a year now with no luck. The one I found I did really like was on Etsy, it was a gothic style knee length dress made of lace and could be custom ordered in white, but I lost the sellers info. Damnit.

Now the sleet is getting bigger. It's about pea sized. At this rate, it will be hail before you know it. And cue the lightening and thunder. If it would have just waited a couple of months, it would be pouring rain and not as cold. Yeesh.

Anyway.

By my estimation, it shouldn't cost that much to get married.

Marriage License: $50
Room at the Skirvin: $299
Rings: $39.99 (if we go with the first set I linked but let's say a $75 budget)
Dinner: $80 (budget for Ben, Robbie and I)
Dress: $300 (budget for dress, shoes and accessories, though the idea of even spending that much for something I'm only going to wear once makes me want to choke)
Invites: $50 (budget)

That's $854 right there if we go exactly on those budgets. But say we go with the rings I found and come in around $100 on the dress and accessories. For Ben and Robbie, they both look good in black pants and white shirts. I won't force them to wear ties if they don't want to. I want everyone to be relaxed and comfortable.

Bouquets and boutineers I can make myself.

It seems even more doable now that I have it all written down.
