wheel of misfortune in poetry

Is it weird I suspect Pat & Vanna
detest each other so fuckity much
either would give up all of their
fortune and fame to no longer have
to look at the other ever again for
the rest of either of their lives?

Is it weird I suspect Pat & Vanna
will keep on doing their jobs until
they are fired or one of them dies
but not because of the money at all?
Neither will quit their goddamn show
because they know their personal hell
so torments the other in continuence?

Is it weird I suspect Pat & Vanna
will someday be eighty or ninety
if they’re each not eighty already
but if the cameramen keep showing
and those audiences keeps showing
and the cash prizes keep on growing
they will still be turning the letters
they will still be spinning that wheel
just to ensure the other keeps suffering?

Is it weird I suspect God and the Devil
are pretty much the same as Pat & Vanna?
Our little horror show down here just
keeps burning and churning and turning
because neither wants to let the other
get off easy by yielding on humanity?

While we are just the consolation prizes
years’ supplies of Turtled Waxes melting
underneath those white hot studio lights
while God and the Devil sag with exhaustion
while Pat & Vanna lock in their fake grimaces
and the wheel of karma keeps turning
and the wheel of samsara keeps turning
and the stage lights keep on burning
and the human beings in the crowd
well
we just lose another turn.
