Still not back to normal in At the foot of the hill

We are still trying to recover from the lightning strike we had just about two weeks ago. As I said in an earlier post, the fire alarm system took a hit… They are still in the process of getting that all replaced. Today they did a test. Sad to say the new equipment in our apartment did not pass… Now what? I wonder. We are also still having problems with the elevator.
There is supposed to be a previously scheduled fire drill conducted by the Fire Department tomorrow morning. It will be interesting to see how that goes with iffy alarms. Of course the elevator is supposed to be wired in to the alarm system so that it doesn’t work when the alarms go off. But it wasn’t working awhile before the alarms were tested today. There is a “fire” door in the hallway between us and the elevator. That actually did engage when it was supposed to today. There are stairs right outside our door. We were told ahead of time that we weren’t expected to evacuate today, but tomorrow is another story. I am pretty sure I can make it down the stairs, but I sure do hope the elevator is running when it’s time to come back up!
