Forgettable in Adventures in paradise

Another week has passed since I last wrote? Geez, getting older is scary. Time just flies. Not to mention it’s July 1st, yikes.

Anyway, a bit has happened I guess. Went to the Goldy last week and caught up with Brent. We went to the HarbourTown cinemas which were pretty nice. We had lunch at a yummy cafe there but I stupidly left my umbrella somewhere. I’d brought it in from the carpark because it was raining on and off, but I didn’t bring my bag, so I inevitably left it behind - I’m assuming in the cinema because the cafe didn’t have it when I went back there.
I just had to buy a new one and it’s the exact same design (since there was only one option) so it’s almost like I never lost it. We saw Toy Story 4 like the big kids we are. I quite enjoyed it and I thought they did it well. I didn’t find it anywhere near as sad as the 3rd one.

Anyway, since then I’ve just been trying to watch all of the UK Shameless episodes on Netflix before they removed it on June 30. I made it about a quarter of the way into Season 9 and there are 10 seasons, and each season has about 22 episodes, so I had no hope! Now I need to try and find the rest elsewhere, but I probably won’t be bothered TBH. I find the American version much more interesting.

On Saturday night was work drinks. It started at 7pm but I only finished work at 7pm, and then I went to gym afterwards and then grabbed some dinner after that. I didn’t want to get there too early or too late and I needed to psych myself up to even go to the damn thing.
But I did go! I got there and had my ID ready to show the bouncer, but he didn’t even seem interested to look at it. I was like, awkwardly, “Umm, is this Felons?” and he just goes, ‘This is Felons!” with a smile and I walked right in. I thought they’d have an issue I was still in my work sneakers, but thankfully they weren’t as strict as The Exchange was the last time I tried to attend work drinks.

The venue turned out to be huge and I couldn’t see anyone I recognised so I went to the bar and ordered a drink. This was a brewery so there were no girly-drink options for me this time. It was an extensive beer, or a very limited cider, menu. Obviously I had to go the cider, since I can’t do beer. Even the cider was barely drinkable. I’d had one previously back at dinner too to try and loosen myself up.

Eventually I came across my workmate group, and it was cheer they were WELL into their night. I got a loud cheer from one of the ex-workmates who was there, and a very drunken hug from Shelby, who was one of the organizers. She’s this STUNNING girl who pretty much every straight guy at work is trying to fuck, but it was interesting to find out that she now has a boyfriend! I didn’t expect that. Even she was like, ‘I know right?!’
She was very happily drunk and all over the place. I more held her in place than hugged her back haha. I just thanked her for organizing the drinks, not that she’ll probably remember it anyway. Jeremy pulled her away from the group and later on learned that she has a boyfriend, so that was pretty funny.
Pretty much as soon as I arrived, the group was moving on. They were all going to Woolly Mammoth in the Valley up the road. So I’d only just caught them. And I was only half-way through my drink too. I had to leave it half-full because a) i was going to lose them if I finished it and b) I decided it wasn’t really that nice anyway.

Got to the Woolly Mammoth and I ran into a few more workmates who were apparently at the previous venue, but I didn’t even see them. There were also other workmates who I am closer with there but I didn’t see them at EITHER venue. So that was weird. Everyone must have been pretty gone. I was way out of my element. I was thankful to be able to finally drink some Malibu Pineapples instead of bitter shit, but that was about the extent of how exciting it was to be out with a bunch of straight workmates I’m not even close with. Like I was more kinda just sitting with them looking and feeling awkward. I will say though, that straight guys have gayer conversations than even I do! They were talking about glory holes and all sorts of stuff. I was joking back that they can’t both be on the same side of the glory hole (I dunno, I wasn’t making much sense either)
One grabbed another one’s crotch at one point. Maybe I need to pretend to be straight for a while lol.
My store manager was out with his boyfriend too, but the most interaction we had was like a smile, so that was weird too. I just felt like I was very forgettable that night. Earlier in the week, one of my workmates said hi to me, a few hours after I’d already asked him a question earlier that morning. I was like, “Wow, am I really THAT forgettable?”
Now I’ve decided that I am. In the end, I just left the Woolly Mammoth. It wouldn’t be a big deal. I’d probably spent about $60 on 4 drinks and dinner, and I had work the next day. That was enough for me. The night clearly wasn’t going to get much better.
I walked back to the gym to collect my bag and made my way home, although I noticed it was nearly midnight, so I went via work and waited for Marty to finish (he works in nightfill and said he’d come to work drinks), so that must have been really weird for him to leave work and see me sitting on a bench alone at 12:15am, but basically the idea was the let him know not to go to Felon’s but to go to Woolly instead.
Clearly those 4 drinks went to my head so have a serial killer idea like that. Anyway, he was thankful and dressed for the gym anyway, and I was heading home so yeah. That was my weird night. I didn’t see ANY of my workmates who I directly work with, despite being told they were there somewhere lol.
Good news is that I felt fine at work the next day, although there were a couple of seedy workmates. I didn’t even see the ASM, who had left before I even got there the night before.
I’m hardly counting that toward my big night out I’ve been wanting for ages.
Weird thing though is my belly button ha started to feel weird! Like I only noticed it after drinking last night. It’s like a bubble has appeared right above it and when I press it, it’s a bubble-like feeling. Really hard to explain. Not painful or anything or noticeable in the mirror but I sure can feel something weird has appeared. I’ve tried Googling and am getting nothing back but ‘belly button hernia’ results, which doesn’t quite seem right. I just thought, ‘Great, something else to add to my weird body traits!’ It’s now been two days and it’s still hanging around.

Tonight I’m seeing ‘The Secret Life Of Pets 2’ with Vish and James. It’s Vish’s birthday but he doesn’t want me telling anyone. Steve is coming too and I think also Rhys. Rhys’ boyfriend probably won’t come because he’s removing from the LOGIES last night, and Moe and his boyfriend are moving into their new house today, so that’s exciting. Vish is inviting his friend Mitch as well, who is hot as fuck but unfortunately isn’t interested in me (and has a boyfriend anyway), as always seems to be the case with my life - non-duel-interested ships passing in the night lol. WTF is a non-duel interested ship? Oh well, I know what I mean. Both parties are never on the same page! Why is that such a cruel life contradiction?

Anyway, at least I know the friends tonight and surely it’s bound to be a hell of a lot better than what work drinks was. I psyched myself up for literally nothing, to only feel awkward as fuck anyway.

I have a lot of entries to catch up on - apologies.
