We had our New Window Party on Saturday. I invited all of my friends from Loughborough. They all either declined or ignored my invitation. Except for Abi! She was going to come and we were going to catch up and she was really looking forward to it! Until one hour before she was due to arrive and cancelled. Woooooo, my friends love me.
So all of Jay's friends came round. I bought all the ingredients for sangria and made a big lovely bowl of it. No one wanted it. So because I'd put in all that red wine, vodka, fruit juice, chopped up fruit, I didn't want it to go to waste. So I spent the entire evening trying to finish it, when I only wanted one or two glasses.
I managed to smash Jay's tea caddy into a million pieces whilst trying to get something out of the cupboard (this was at the beginning of the evening so I wasn't even drunk!). Two year old Harry knocked over a candle, spreading wax all over himself and our wooden coffee table. Well I suppose I shouldn't have had candles out with a small child in the house. Another candle developed a hole and dripped wax all down the bookshelf and onto Rob's bag and our brand new carpet. Le sigh!
I think everyone had a good time though.
At the end of the night, when everyone had gone, me and Jay were arguing about something stupid; he had put my special raspberry vodka into a nasty shot concoction that no-one drank and we poured down the sink. When he suddenly exploded; he started screaming and shouting at me saying that all I ever do is complain about my life and I'm not doing anything about it. Well dur, I'm saving up so I can go self employed and do a job I actually enjoy. And then he burst into tears and sat there crying for about 10 minutes. I had no idea what was going on. When he finished, he said to me that he hates his job and he hates that he never does anything in his spare time and he really wants to be a writer but no-one's interested.
I was gobsmacked....where on Earth had this come from? Last I heard, he was really enjoying his job and, as far as I knew, he'd never written anything, so how can anyone be interested in nothing? Well we had a long talk and he decided he's going to do something with his evenings instead of just sitting watching TV for six hours every night, like he does at the moment. He's now bought some music editing software and he's going to "Record all those songs that have been floating about in my head for years." So it seems he wants to write music AND short fiction stories. I really hope he does do something about it; what's the point in getting annoyed and upset that you're not doing what you really want to do, if you never actually tried?
Anyway, that was hard work so I hope something comes of it.
We're off to Amsterdam in a week! I'm really excited, I've always wanted to go. There are loads of museums and things I want to visit, I don't know how we're going to decide. I think I'll take my posh camera and try and get some nice photos. I've started a travel wall with photos of our travel adventures going up the stairs. So far I have Romania and Florida, now I'll have Amsterdam to add :o)
We went to visit Jay's mam last night and we were talking about Amsterdam when the conversation inevitably turned to weed. She suddenly came out with the line "You could grow it in your veranda!" Mmmm, what? "Well, no one can see in the back, you could make loads of money!" Again, what? Why is my mother-in-law encouraging us to become drug dealers??? I'd rather not risk a prison sentence thanks, I think I'll stick with tomatoes for now...
