Graduation Day is the account of a man reflecting upon his youth as young former soldier leaving his military post for the last time, to the airport and a flight home, during a trip to his nephew's high school graduation a generation later. The story is influenced by my own bus ride from Ft. Knox to Louisville near the end of 1986 after having spent some time in Ireland Army Community Hospital in Ft. Knox following a training accident, by the ride and my feelings and experiences on that bus, juxtaposed upon a June 2012 trip to my nephew Jake's graduation from high school. The former was a graduation of sorts as well, sending me from one part of my life into another. It's with this story that I begin the future anthology of short stories and novellas based on my life, American Stories.
