Yes-ter-day ... in The odd entries from life …….

The first walk across the patio with Ziggy was beneath a powder blue sky with whispery clouds, here in the valley it is quiet and calm, up there those whispery clouds suggest rather more activity; perhaps a time to enjoy what we have! From dusk yesterday and through the night we had rain, topping up the ground water levels as if it needs it, along the lane the water is still seeping out of the valley sides and the fields beyond, in Somerset the floods are going down but not gone yet; how will a home look after nine or ten weeks enveloped in water …..

Once the morning things were finished I went of to Truro, each visit now when a arrive at the Park & Ride there seems to be more cars, so us mid morning have to walk further to the terminus, but not so bad this time as it isn’t raining; I like it better when I get on the bus with dry knees. Truro still has many roads closed, it’s like all the pipes and cables beneath the roads are being replaced so the busses have to take the scenic route! Until are this work began I didn’t know where the wealthy people lived. The busses for now enter Truro at the higher end of the city, passing through you notice there are no modern buildings, there are roads of classic stone house’s that have a aged look, and many having large gardens! Today’s builders would squeeze six or more on the plots of these homes, some time I much walk this area, not that I can age these houses; but I now what I like even if I can’t afford it.

I always take a shoulder bag with me, and in there my Canon G10 ready if I feel the erg, I find the batteries in today’s digital cameras do last quite a long time, so I seldom carry a second ….! Walking through Lemon Quay I noticed a bank of clouds passing, so I reached for the camera and tuned it on and put it to my eye, in passing something red caught my eye; a warning that the battery was very low on power. I managed about six or seven images, the last two I had to wait a minute or two, then turn on the camera and place in to my eye as it comes alive – then take the picture within a few seconds – then the camera is closing it’s self down.

The old cameras never had a mind of there own, neither did they warn you the film hadn’t been loading correctly; that was a joyous moment as you looked at your film as it came out of the wash; and there was a clear film! Most of the images I took needed quite a lot of work to straighten the buildings leaning this way and that. I came away with four images, one needed little work where as the other three had the full treatment. To get Truro buildings perpendicular to the streets I had to use perspective and distortion tools to correct the building.

When I up loaded these images on to fliker I notice the three heavily worked on took much longer; 97% of time was uploading those three, the other one just 3%! After all that two images didn’t load, not even when I tried them one at a time!!

Boscawen Street, this street has been dug up though the winter, but it seems to be coming together again.

Our almost Spring weather came to a end as I drove home, there was a few spots on the widescreen and then it steadily got worst, buy the time I parked at home it was necessary to run; there are no images of this rear event! Today is forecasted for rain and wind, not storm force just the usual wet stuff, but so far it is a copy of yesterday; and very welcome …..
