Not used to this bike ride! in Adventures in paradise

I went for a bike ride yesterday with the housemate, his boyfriend and his American friend. It’s not often I join in on things, but I was invited and I didn’t have to start work until 10am there next day, so I accepted. It was a nice enough ride, but man, I haven’t ridden a bike in like 20 years haha. I was way behind them all and took ages to get used to riding the damn thing. I couldn’t even find the gears or the bell haha. We were just on CityCycles so they were only $2 to hire and as long as you dock them within every 20 minutes, the rides are free. So we did that. We rode a fair way. I only nearly stacked it once and freaked out a little when someone was riding the other direction on a narrow path. Thankfully I avoided a collision.
We stopped off at Southbank and had some dinner. MAN the waiter was cute as fuck - all four of us were eyeing him off haha. I’ll have to make a note to go back there sometime.
After dinner, the boys all went on the ferris wheel but it wasn’t really my thing as I’ve been on it before (more touristy) so I opted to leave them then and hugged them goodbye. I managed to get a selfie but Ben was elsewhere so this is me, Arron and Phil. I obviously didn’t mean Phil to turn out so blurry, but how cool is my new phone otherwise, to get this from a front-facing camera at nighttime?

I’m still loving the new phone. I can’t believe how fast it charges (full charge in about 35 minutes) and it lasts for two days by the looks of it. And that’s with pretty constant use. Very happy with it. Unfortunately the purple hard-case that I ordered on Ebay doesn’t fit it, despite being the right case, so that’s a little bit annoying. Like, I’m trying to figure out a way to get the damn phone into it, but I can’t see how I’ll do it without scratching or damaging the phone in the process (it’s just far too tight - I don’t know if there’s any opening or a special way to get the phone in there, but I sure can’t see one), so I’ve just given up and am using the rubbery case that came with it. It’s fine and I’m used to it.

Work’s been another busy week. I stayed back about an hour unpaid tonight just to try and get everything done, and I felt good about it and it’ll mean less work tomorrow, although I’ll still be flat-tack, - I know what I’m like. Jesse was back today so that was nice to have the cute-faced 18yo in charge again. He was all inspired and on a high from the new store that he was at the past few weeks, where they do everything so well, so he wants to implement that in our store. Hey, whatever works buddy.

I was meant to hang out with JayJay tonight and see his new apartment but he cancelled last minute saying he has a cough and doesn’t want to give it to me since I just got better. So I said it was okay and we can do it another time. He’s a sweety. So that meant I could finally cook up the rest of my dinner, since I couldn’t last night because of the bike-ride and getting home late and tired.

Phil was at the gay nude beach all day today with a bunch of his friends. He’s invited me down but I can never go because I work weekends. The idea of getting my kit off in front of a bunch of strangers terrifies me. I can do it in one-on-one hookup situations but in public on a nude beach, for some reason, I am very reserved haha. Phil’s boyfriend has already informed me I live with a nudist, but I’ve only really seen him nude here once and it was only his ass whilst he was in his bathroom. I see enough of it on his Instagram posts anyway that seeing it in reality wouldn’t be that big of a deal. I’ve yet to see any peen though. Haha - peen. Who says that? Anyway, he had fun and got home right after I did tonight so I was all tired from work and eating my dinner and there was a girl with them and I didn’t feel like socializing like I did last night. I just went out to wash up my mess and asked how the beach was. Apparently it was a perfect day. Turns out it was Arron’s birthday so they had cheesecake and lit a candle and we all sang him happy birthday. How nice to celebrate his birthday in another country.
I’d ordered a lemon lime and bitters at the cute-guy cafe last night and he asked if I was drinking a Long Island, and I laughed and said, ‘That’s not far from you!’ - although in reality I have no idea how far New Jersey is from Long Island. I figured they couldn’t be that far. He was like, ‘Yeah it is pretty close!’
I think he’s a quiet personality like I am, but obviously I’ve only seen him now and then with all his luggage in our small lounge. But it’s not in the way or anything. He seems very nice. He’s been to the major cities during his trip so far - Syd, Melb and here and says he’s flying out of Syd, which makes sense.

Tomorrow night I’m hosting dinner, which is exciting. I’m trying to plan it and have to pick up the burger rolls, salad and maybe a few other things and then make the skewers before the boys arrive, so I’ll have about a 1.5 hour window to do all that (doh). I will have to skip gym, but let’s face it, I’ve been going SO often that I really should have a day off. I had today off it too but that’s cos I thought I was hanging out with JayJay. It was a good thing. I’m tired and need a good sleep, which I’m going to get now. I just hope the dinner goes well tomorrow. Luke and Rhys are coming this time, so they’ll get to see my apartment. I’m not sure how we’ll play a board game though, if we want to do that, since I don’t have an inside table. We could sit on the floor or play on the balcony outside, but that’ll depend if it’s windy or rainy. Anyway, I’ll figure it out. Might just put Drag Race on lol.
