• There used to be a little corner shopping center across the street. The anchor shop was a liquor store that wasn’t well patronized. I didn’t see anything illegal there as I used to in the barrio liquor store. Over the years the beauty parlor, the dog care store, the Guitar store, and one more rotating shop gave up the ghost and left.
• Then poof, the whole complex was bulldozed, and an underground garage was dug.
• Every morning now there is some bit of excitement across the street. I think breaking that gas line put them well behind schedule. Today we seem to have a parade of cement trucks rotating out in front. I only heard some hammering yesterday.
• The lot is a whole block, and they have filled up the block side to side with apartments.
• I’m across the street with wall to wall trees and green grass.
• There’s another brand new, complex just like this down the street. They filled the whole lot side to side with town houses and driveways. No charm like New York. No Avant guard like LA. Nope, just stucco and cement by the acre.
• I thought Lady Bird was crazy when she began her Beautification plan. Now I believe that we all need a little space, a little green, so our soul can have a little stillness.

• Myself: Still coughing. Nothing exciting today. Tomorrow AM the new Pulmonary Doctor. In the evening it’s the Mission Middle School performance of the “WIZ.”
• Photo: One of my doodles.
• Reading: The new Perry.
• Gratitude’s: All but the continuing cough.
