mid-life in poetry

“will I still be myself when I become a butterfly”
the caterpillar asked the mother sky above
“or will I be dead and a butterfly just takes my place?”
as he entered into his existential chrysalis
he will find out in time
he will find out soon but
not until he leaves the cocoon
