awww yea, an entry :-p

A REAL entry!!!

Well, a lot has changed since my last entry. I'm sure i'm going to miss a lot of things that happened, but this is what I get for not updating much.

  • I became unemployed a lot sooner than I had expected. I was supposed to work until February, but I was let go in December. Was told that it was due to budget issues. At least I got references (one from my manager/boss and another from the QA Director!!), a goodbye lunch at a nice restaurant and potential to come back. Some of the permanent employees that left didn't get a goodbye lunch paid for by the company so I'll take it as a sign that I could come back when a budget gets approved.

Plus, leading up to me being notified about my looming unemployment, the QA Director didn't look happy, always muttering something about budgets and HR... So there's that.

  • I got sick for a bit. It was one hell of a nightmare.

First, just before Thanksgiving, I was at Makenna's birthday party. I swear, that lil girl is growing up far too soon for me. She turned 4 :-p

Anyways, I guess they had the norovirus the week before the party and disinfected the entire house. The bad news was some kid brought the norovirus to the party :(

I got sick the next day and almost blamed it on the deli I ate at that day.

I fully understand now... Food poisoning will kick anyone's ass and make them their bitch. I almost didn't go into work.

Second, after Thanksgiving, I come down with a bout of bronchitis. This was just more annoying than anything.

Unfortunately, since I'm a contractor, I don't get any sick days... So I either work or don't get paid. I apologized to my co-workers for the plague I was going to unleash on them. I told them to consider it my "going away" present to them. This plague lasted until just after Christmas.

Finally, the week after Christmas, I come down with a minor stomach bug. Lovely, right?

I guess the one silver lining out of this was that I lost close to 10 lbs during this time.

  • I also had a few more health "issues" that warrant it's own section.

A week into the new year, I have this faint ache on the lower left side of my abdomen. I'm getting paranoid about this and once I google the symptoms, I didn't feel any better. I saw "cancer" as one of the results, I freaked.

I didn't have insurance, so I had to wait til February for my new insurance to kick in so I could see the doctor. Until then, I just managed it.

The weird thing about this ache was that it wasn't an issue when I pissed, pooped or worked out (cardio and such).

Finally, February came around and I saw the doctor. He thought my symptoms were strange as well so he ordered an ultrasound done. He was pretty confident that I didn't have cancer or any other major ailments.

Ultrasound was done and the results came back negative for anything. I was pretty normal and healthy. Doc just said to keep monitoring my stomach and if things get worse, he listed 2 specialists to hit up.

So far, thankfully, the ache is mostly gone. I barely notice it anymore.

The only real health issue I currently have... Pink eye :( At least it's almost gone now!

  • We all know that OD finally closed down. Downloaded all my entries during that mad rush. It was kind of neat reading some excerpts from my diary. 10+ years of entries... can't believe OD is gone. I actually got kind of nostaligic reading some of my old entries here and there.

Well, one door closes and another opens ;) Glad that a lot of my faves from OD migrated their way here!

  • Dodgeball... I'm still playing! Playing in 2 leagues this season. This is my 3rd season.

    1 season = 3 months.

And to think... I got into this by finding some random girl's picture on okcupid. Saw she played dodgeball, saw the logo on the picture, found a league near me and signed up!

No, I haven't found her. She said in her description that she'd light anybody up... After playing for a bit, I highly doubt that she could pull that with me ;)

Anyways, I'm still in my rookie year and it's still pretty fun. I joined to play and to socialize. Let's just say that it's exceeded all of my expectations!

    • I've met some very fun people. Hang with a few of them outside of the court so that's definitely a bonus!
    • I'm actually pretty decent/good at dodgeball and am just getting better. I can catch like nobody's business (I'm quite the catch... -er) and my throws have gotten a lot harder and accurate :)

People have bowling leagues... I kind of see dodgeball the same way.

  • How the hell am I killing time now that I'm unemployed? Of course I'm looking for a job, but more importantly, to me, I'm back at the gym (Muay Thai) on a consistent basis. This is partly why I'm glad I'm unemployed sometimes. I get some time to FINALLY take care of myself as well as challenge myself physically. Plus, I miss hitting pads, punching bags and people.

Weird thing happens... when I go to the gym consistently, I feel pretty good, but I also feel kind of... evil maybe? I start getting too confident... bordering on cocky... also kind of like angry at the world.

Maybe because I've been taking steps at eating better as well. I have been making more health conscious choices as well. As a result, I am eating healthier foods, but I'm not eating nearly as many fun foods as I'd like.

Being a foodie, that kind of fucks with you :(

I'm currently under 200lbs right now and i'm slowly dropping more weight.

  • Well, time to end this actual entry with something fun... My travel plans. After my health issues being resolved for the time being, I feel a lot better about going through with traveling during the second half of the year.

First, I'll be going to Ireland in during the first week of September. I'm going there for a wedding. My friend that I stayed with in Hong Kong... She's getting married and I'm invited! I plan on having fun and drinking heavily.

    Guinness... *you're my only friend :p *

Second, I'll be going to the UK in November. The reason??? I got tickets to see the Cowboys play at Wembley Stadium! I got 2 tickets just in case I can find someone awesome to go with, but if not, I'm sure I can sell off the ticket. Either way, I'm hell bent on being on that game! I got tickets close to the sideline damnit!

And with that, I'm mostly current with this entry!!!! I'm still getting used to the formatting here. Ugh!

Sweet dreams and drink up!
Danny

P.S. I've been killing time watching Netflix shows... Such as Orange Is The New Black, Lilyhammer and House of Cards. I'm caught up on all 3 of those ;)

All while collecting unemployment :p
