A dentist visit and an outing in I don't know....

I took the kids to the dentist today. Finding a dentist here is easier said than done. We drove 45 minutes to Sulphur Springs to see someone who took our insurance. It's bizarre to live in a place where a company is based out of and the medical ppl around here do not take the insurance. Anyway, kids checkups were great. No cavities. They haven't been to the dentist in over a year. The dentist we saw, Dr. Edge, was really pleased with their teeth. I had almost decided we wouldn't go back. Froo froo office and techy with huge kid panels of wallpaper on the walls. My kids asked for mint toothpaste only to be told it terrorized most children (@@), the hygienist did a quick clean on them (accustomed to a more thorough cleaning), and just an overall 'meh!' feel, until the dentist came in. She was super personable, thorough with each kid, discussed their teeth and health of their teeth and even talked ortho with me on my oldest two. She came across as a real noninvasive dentist and I sooooo like that.

Then we drove through downtown. Not sure how many have seen this, but it made national news. They have bathrooms downtown that are enclosed in one way glass. The person using the potty can look out and all around. Those on the outside can't look in. Jacob laughed! Abby and Bailey laughed, but declared an 'I don't think so' thought process. We didn't get out, but did get to see these unusual bathrooms.

On to the Southwest Dairy Museum. NEAT place. First order of business? Lunch as promised in their cute little café called The Creamery. Nothing over $4 and it was great! We went and watched a short video about Buttercup and how we get milk. Then we followed the hoof prints through the museum to look at interesting displays and lots of hands on learning. Question boxes with lids that raised to reveal answers, a cow where you could hook up and "milk" the cow (not real), a skeleton riding a bike that talked about osteoporosis, and a milk carton kiosk with questions and buttons to push to guess the answers.

We headed to an outlet mall that they have, but it was rather disappointing and since someone graciously noticed my son didn't close the van door, we hoofed (pun intended) it out of there quick.

There are some more things to see and do and when we go back the first of Sept I hope to get to see some of them. Apparently there is a neat playground near the Dairy Museum we will be able to hit up when we go next time.
