Not sure I get it in My Life

Got home from School Stepdad ask me how my day went. I told him it was good. He said I think you finally get it son. I said yes sir but had no idea what he was talking about I got my chores done mowed the yard then My stepdad came in and said you need to get a shower and get dressed wear your new stuff. I did not ask, I just did it. I got out of the shower and got dressed walked in the living and my girlfriend was there. My Stepdad said if you will get your boot on we can go. I ask where he said I’m dropping ya’ll at movies and then I will pick you up at DQ at 9:30. it’s next to the movie theater. He gave me $40.00
We got to the show and decided to see Wonder Park. I ask my girlfriend how she talked My stepdad into this. She said I didn’t your stepdad called my dad and ask if I could go to the movies tonight and then eat. After we ate. He picked us up and we took her home.
On the way home My stepdad asks me if I had a good time I told him yes sir thank you.
He looked at me and said you understand why I did this. I just said yes sir. but I don’t have a clue.well if you forget think about tonight then look down. I have no idea what he is doing
I ask him why he let me go he just said you showed me you knew who is in control last night and we both have a reminder who it is. I’m sure I will have to remind you soon.
