“A band you WANT to like, but just can’t.”

I just sat here forever. This was hard as hell. I either like something, or I don’t, and if I don’t, I can almost always tell you exactly why. It’s like guilty pleasures… I don’t do that either. I can listen to Kalmah and Empire of the Sun back to back and not feel weird or imasculated at all. I like it, or I don’t.

After spending forever and a damn day on this one, I’m going to bite it and use this song as an example.

Not everything Avantasia is bad to me. I like some of the earlier stuff, like on the album the Scarecrow. Even this newer Bon Jovi-esque soft mainstream stuff isn’t TERRIBLE per say. I can see why people would like it. I just … cant listen to it.

Another example from them that I heard and wanted to like, but it fell way short. It’s just too… Soft? Top 40 rock chart? I don’t know what to tell you, but I can’t do it.

I like it. I think. But I can’t listen to it. I just can’t connect, but almost. Whatever. Funnily enough, the same goes for Tobias Sammet. He’s almost cute, for that edgy pretty boy look. Almost. But something is just… No, not quite. I can’t do it. Lmao.

I have this trouble with most prog metal operas. I just can’t do it.

But for some reason, I can do this one by them. Just barely.

It has to be because of Klaus Meine that I can listen to that one. That being said, my partner almost crawled out of his skin in cringe when the chorus hit, LMAO. Guess it’s not just me.
