Checking to see how this washed out photo taken with my phone earlier today translates here. Just after I snapped it the rain started again.
It was just lovely to spend time with Kes and Most Honorable yesterday afternoon. The om column of this month’s Yoga Journal lists 4 Fun Anti-Aging Habits and number one is… Be Social. “It’s important to talk openly and authentically about what is going on in your life at least once a week, so make spending time with friends and loved ones a top priority.”
We talked openly and authentically about aging. :)
Mostly because starting last Thursday and then continuing I started to see “floaters” out of the outside corner my left eye and then later that day, these bright cascading flashes. This is probably due to some sinus inflammation but it is also a sign of aging. I had no idea. Like our knees, our eyes change as we age. I have an appointment to see an eye doctor next week just to rule out possible early retinal detachment.
Personally, I was hoping to blame it on the really bad lighting in our poorly designed office. But it has continued even when I am not there. Rats.
Because I take the bus places, I schedule extra time for delays and then get places early if the buses are on time. I wander when that happens. And look at gardens and people and whatever…
This morning when I was wandering before my yoga class time I realized that for the first time since the whole Mr. Fine China episode started to unfold that I felt centered and well, umm, happy. How cool is that?
I have no regrets but at the same time I am thrilled to be through it all. I learned a lot about myself and what my needs are and what my dreams are and what I can actually handle.
My current fantasy is that I meet a guy I like that actually comes to my Friday yoga class and then takes me out for a healthy late supper after and gives me a ride home. :)
In the meantime I have signed up for a six-week class called Hormone Yoga Therapy. I have become interested in the practices that are appropriate for this lately for obvious reasons.
To teach as well as to practice; so much of what I find myself teaching (particularly in my private sessions) is dealing with either the aging body, or a body that is not functioning as it was designed to. But as Gary is always saying, we do come with a shelf life. We do wear out.
Last night after a couple of drinks and the good company and food I became aware of just how tired I was. The storm, work, the bumpy landing in relationship land all took it out of me. I slept 11 hours. Sammy was happy to have me stay put but then he did start to remind me by walking back and forth over me and fussing that one could have too much of a good thing…
