“Brief” weekend update.
Friday night, I came home just absolutely exhausted. Wife asked if we should work out and I was honest… I told her that I was in pain and that I was super tired, but we hadn’t worked out in several days so we really needed to. Though I knew that we really needed to because we shouldn’t go days and days without working out. We went to the gym and I tried my hardest to do well; but I’ve already gained some of the weight back so… I need to figure out something to keep my metabolism from going insane.
When we got home, I told Wife that I most definitely needed a soak!! I started to fill the bathtub and she asked me, “What would you give me if I soaked with you?” I didn’t quite understand what she was asking so I said, “Hopefully, it would help your body like it would help mine?” She smiled at me trying to look seductive and said, “Would you give me your penis?” Ah. I got it. Though it turned me into Hugh Grant as I stumbled over my response, “Uhm, I.. I guess.. certainly, if… if that’s what you want… I mean if this is an overture to sex, then.. uh… yeah… I’d… I’d certainly be okay with that.” So the bath filled, we ate dinner, and got naked and soaked in the tub. It really felt good to have that warm water soaking into my body alleviating (however mildly) the body pain. And having my wife in the tub with me, able to appreciate her body visually, was a nice touch. And after? We did have sex. It wasn’t sweet, like last time, but it wasn’t quite “passionate, hot”. It was more like a familiar, comfortable but still an awesome comfortable. Because it wasn’t quite as “scheduled” around Wife’s cycle, we used a condom. In a rare occasion, not only did we both reach orgasm but I pretty much totally filled the condom. So… no sex for 6 months turned into twice in two weeks.
The funny thing is that this all happened Friday night, even though we had kind of an all day date planned for Saturday. The fun joke: The good thing about being married is that you can have sex before the date and it doesn’t change the date any.
I woke up at 7 a.m. to shower and get ready for our Saturday full day. We left IF around 8:00 a.m. to drive to West Des Moines to make our 10:00 3D XD showing of “Battle Angel Alita.” I enjoyed the film. The pacing and a few other things convinced me it probably would have been better as an Anime… but I can absolutely appreciate James Cameron loving the Manga so much that he wanted to buy the rights up on the spot to make it a movie when the technology became good enough to do it properly. Of course, the movie left off with the possibility of a sequel so… we’ll see if that happens. That being said… I’m not holding my breath. Even if they made a sequel, it would be difficult to add the heart and story of the original into a sequel dedicated to an “overthrowing the authority” action plot.
After the movie, we ate at Joe’s Crab Shack. The day long date was going awesomely.
We stopped by to do a gift exchange thing with our DnD group but couldn’t stay since we had tickets to an event in Ames. So, after we spent time there… I drove us to Ames for dinner and Bill Engvall.
For some reason? Wife just… turned at Panera for dinner. She became a downright bitch… getting snappy, being rude, being hostile. I kind of asked her pointblank what the deal was… she simply said that she was really cold because all of the seating was close to the door. I mean… I suppose that is a “reason” but (as I told her) being a little cold is no reason to be so rude. After dinner, we went to Stephen’s Auditorium for the Bill Engvall show. Wife loves him and I enjoy when she’s busting a gut. For me… he’s okay. I think he and I are too alike in some ways. My comedy heroes are all dead, like Robin Williams and John Pinette. Wife laughed so much and so hard as to give herself a headache and a side ache.
As we left the show, it started to snow. The snowstorm everyone was expecting was starting. I drove while Wife was playing her Magnus Archives podcast obsession.
She was on an episode involving a Fear of the Dark. The story (I won’t retell all of it) involved a person that realized that they were being… attacked, in a way. A terrible monster would appear at night, and the person would hide under the covers, cowering in fear. Every night, the person would go to bed, see the monster, hide under the covers and cower… and the monster would come no further. Until one night, the person went to bed, hid under the covers and didn’t feel fear. It was just “routine” to hide under the covers. The monster didn’t stop. It crawled onto the bed and whispered in a menacing voice “The covers never did anything.” And the monster beat the hell out of the person.
At this I said, “Nice! That is exactly how I tend to write torture!! You have to force the person to think they have hope; but that hope has to be singularly and desperate… so that the person puts their entire spiritual strength into trusting that hope… then destroy that hope! That absolutely crushes a person, destroying everything.
Wife responded, “But it wasn’t the covers. The covers didn’t do anything. It was the fear.”
No duh. I didn’t say anything but… uh… lady? My master’s degree is essentially in deductive reasoning! If a series of events continues along one way, only to change after a single condition is altered… the altering of that single condition would (obviously) be the element required… in the case of the Podcast… the element was fear… obviously.
I continued, “Obviously. But that’s how the torture thing works. It is like tearing someone’s heart out but allowing them to continue to feed that heart. They don’t know that you’ve got their heart in your hand, and they allow it to grow and grow… until it grows so large that it reaches your fingertips… making it all the easier to crush the life out of it.”
At this point… the weather in the drive was getting bad. Like… the snow wasn’t battering down; but the road was gone. Just the night, the white, and a vague understanding between which completely snow covered surface was likely road and which completely snow covered surface was not road. However, despite my focus needing to be more on driving at this point… Wife took that time to (no exaggeration) read me word-for-word her entire 15 pages of notes she’s been taking on her podcast. I mean… don’t get me wrong. I’m glad she’s found something she can be obsessively interested in. I’m super happy about it. But trying to navigate through a snowstorm in white out conditions at 60 miles per hour… may not be the best time to read me your Podcast Research Notes.
We made it home safe and sound and Wife pretty much went straight to sleep. Hopefully, she enjoyed her day. I know that she tends to stay home and not venture out much… so hopefully a full day of Movie and Restaurants and her favorite comedian were good. Kind of a “valentine’s date” a few days later.
My hope for tomorrow is to do some Law Work (as the next few weeks will be busy for us again), maybe play some video games, watch some Anime and Jeopardy, respond to some Prosebox Notes, hopefully write some sexy stories that I’ve been working on… some fun stuff. Til then… good night, good luck, and good dreams :)
