Dear Community,

I am writing on behalf of the American Heart Association. While there are personal reasons for being a part of this community, I want to discuss the reasons this impacts everyone.

“Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide, and stroke ranks second globally. Even when those conditions don’t result in death, they cause disability and diminish quality of life. We want to see a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.”

In our STATE alone, “6,862 Iowans died of heart disease in 2016, the leading cause of death in Iowa since 1920. Among heart disease deaths, 4,268 (65%) were due to CHD.”

These statistics speak for themselves. The AHA website has many resources, along with education that is simple. There are also links to follow for professionals.

I know many people and families that heart disease and strokes have affected. Chances are, you know someone who’s been affected as well.
