So, yesterday at 4:30 the cast tech for the day (also a Nurse practitioner) comes up to me holding a car seat with an infant in it and asked me if I could help someone behind him. Little did I know that meant me wheeling out this 350+ lb woman with a 2 year old sitting on her lap. I am a short 118 lb woman, so you would think the NP being the MAN would have given me the baby and wheeled out this woman but no that would have made too much sense. So I'm wheeling her out with all of my might and all is fine until I get to the damn narrow doorway. Her foot was injured and it was sticking soo far out to the side so I was trying to pivot it and ended up lifting her in the wheelchair to get her through the damn door because there was no other option.
"The transportation driver told me I could only bring ONE of my children with me. So I asked them should I leave my 2 year old at home or the 6 month old?? Yeah that's right. I got no one to watch my children. I have had pap smears and cervical exams wit them ok!" So we go outside in the freezing cold to the transportation van and NP starts trying to put the infant in FRONT FACING and the woman was like "Uh he needs to be rear facing" There wasn't even a base in the van and NP had no clue how to buckle hm in. He finally (I guess) figured it out and I buckled the two year old into her car seat.
I went back to sit down at my desk and that's when this pain hit me. Started shooting up from my knee to my hip and I kept getting bad muscle spasms. It felt like my leg was on fire. I started icing my knee and our marketing person walked by and asked what was wrong and I told her what had happened and that I was fine and wanted to wait it out but she was like no you have to report it and got lithium manager. So lithium manager said that I had to go to this urgent care center we use and told them I was on my way.
The doctor I got was a douche. First thing he said was "I never understand why (my work) sends its employees to us when we are just going to refer you back to them anyway. And we just tried calling you guys for a radial head shaft fracture" He does have a point but don't think that really needed to be said. I knew there was nothing that was going to be done and I was going to be fine anyway although it hurt to walk on it. He did an xray and it of course came back normal. He gave me crutches to use and said I have to use them until I see him on Tuesday. I woke up this morning and just felt like I over did it working out. I can walk fine. I am going to call them tomorrow and see if he will lift the "use crutches 100% of the time" restriction because I really don't want to have to use them at work when I can walk fine without a limp. Crutches are such a pain in the ass. Although maybe it will get me out of having to wheel anyone out again. ha. My back and my hands really can't take it. The numbness in my hands are getting worse. I need to have another EMG because the parasthesis is just so annoying. I had one done a year and a half ago and it came back normal but the numbness wasn't as bad as it is now. I really feel like I'm 90 now with all my issues. But yeah, that's how I spent my valentine's day!
