Good finds. in A small but passable life.

I’m back to my regular program. In bed from midnight to 8am. Coffee and reading until lunch. NPR, napping, and the pool until dinner. Dinner. Internet stuff until midnight. Repeat. And repeat again.

While wandering around Walmart I stumbled upon a luggage scale. Portable, small, digital, and only eight dollars. I started weighing stuff.. Now I know for sure that my “big three”- backpack, sleeping bag, and tent weigh under twelve pounds, 11.84 to be exact. And that included all the stuff sacks. So the total could be closer to eleven pounds. That means I’ve eliminated the third reason for an upgrade. The three reasons? Wear, functionality, and weight. Everything has worked great for two decades with no wear or flaws and I purchased for the best weight I could afford at the time.

I found at a Goodwill a 1989 1st edition hardcover copy of A PRAYER FOR OWEN MEANY for $3. The book looked brand new and the dust jacket looked pretty good. A good find.

Wandering around Walmart another day I found a Bluetooth keyboard. A Blackweb USB chargeable foldable little gizmo for only $20. It has nice big buttons! Typing on the phone with one and a half thumbs never worked well. And poking with one pointy finger was too slow.
