Happiness in Musings

Towards the end of 2018 I read the happiness project by Gretchen Rubin. I found it very inspiring and set out to do something similar. In case you’ve never heard of it the basic construct is that she assigned each month of the year an area of her life. Then she broke that broad subject into more tangible goals. By doing these things she wanted to see if she could be happier.
I decided 12 things was too many so I picked 6 and am assigning 2 months each to those 6 areas:
January and February: Health
March and April: Mental Growth
May and June: Marriage
July and August: Parenting
September and October: Work
November and December: Spirituality
To be honest when I originally assigned goals under the health category it was more about counting calories and working out more and losing weight. But since finding intuitive eating my January has been about learning to listen to my body and give it what it needs and learning to appreciate it and not constantly feel the need to lose weight.
February is going to be more about making doctors appointments. Namely the dentist because I haven’t been in six years. I know I know. Terrible. But I have major dental anxiety. I gag REALLY easily. So cleaning and x rays is a nightmare. And I always get the feeling most dental professionals think I’m exaggerating but I’m not. I always end up in tears. But I know I need to go and I’ll feel better having done it. I also want to get a regular ol check up as well and get screened for diabetes since it runs in the family.
I’ll share more goals once time goes on but I’m pretty excited to see what I learn and how I grow through this.
